Taxis are WAV, PH are not. But you’re right Skull, there are too many PH. If the council are serious about traffic management and having a cleaner envoirnment, then they should be restricted too. The only people that gain from more PH are the few “Owners”.
Wheelchairs are an insignificant share of the market which is totally disproportionate to the expense of WAV. Your main market is the same as the PH. Numerical restriction is not the answer but controlling and regulating your market is. Your trade's dependency is on artificial plate values and expecting the council to control the competition, not competing in your market and taking control for yourselves.
Real businessmen owners don't leave profitability to the vagaries of politicians. They take control by lobbying, direct action or through the courts.
This isn't quite the same as having Uncle Tom's, speaking on your behalf and pushing around the gipsy creams.
Having real representation is about being able to take the necessary action to ensure a favourable outcome.
Your focus would have to change from artificial plate values to the profitability of operating a taxi without restriction of numbers.
The above might never happen but until it does, it's just a pretend business controlled by the council, operated by ignorant ar*eholes.
