what did you learn today?

i learned that just because that DAF tipper hgv is in the "left turn only" lane joining the island, it doesnt mean that it wont swing hard right and go round the island just as i pass it but before im out of range of its front drivers side cab step which can then smack my nearside rear wheel arch and mean i have to visit two bodyshops to hear "£1500 mate" - and it could mean its a write off....,



(7am, he didnt indicate and he had no lights on either....)

I can bet I end up losing out big time anyway with my excess and loss of no cliams, in fact id probably be wiser and better off not mending it or claiming then flogging it is as it stands once we break up for xmas

I learnt that a round trip of 200 miles, and a three hour (paid for) wait, was a good way to earn a living.

But not for £1.20 a mile I may add.

yes, driver stopped, his boss rang this morning, im just about to ring him back, they havent reported the accident to their insurers or made any claim (i was told by an accident management company)


rang him, not his drivers fault, doesnt have to indicate when rounding an island, was my fault, hes got a witness (drivers "mate") in the cab

Don't go getting involved in conversations with him. Just tell him to talk to his insurers.

The insurance company WONT accept the drivers mate as an independant witness just fill in the claim form with his details and leave it to your insurers to prove it was his fault unless your'e unlucy and he's insured by the same company

But you have already informed your insurance about the loss so it will already have been noted on the CUE database which means that you still have to disclose the loss on any future insurance proposals or risk having your insurance invalidated.
Your excess would be returned to you when the case is closed and the other party have been found at fault.

he was in a left hand lane marked with an arrow LEFT "A5 West" he turned into the correct lane to go "A5 west" but as i passed him he swung across lanes and hit my rear nearside wheel arch, i was 85% past him

he sould have used the right hand lane
dunno if this will work

he came in (bottom centre) in the left lane, a5 west, then once on the island cut across to go to the 2nd exit (the very first left turn is the m6 toll access for staff/works vehicles)

If the island has lane markings, then he must signal his intention that he is changing lanes.

Another idiot truck driver!!!

Strangely, if there are no lane markings on an island, then it is counted as one lane, irrespective of how wide the island road is.
