Because it has been in the news this week that there have been several arrests in the Liverpool area regarding a betting scam wherby several bets were placed an a player being sent off in a certain game. One of those arrested was Wayne Rooney's father. Following this in the England game last night Wayne Rooney himself managed to get himself sent off. The assumption being made by Sussex may be that this could allegedly be part of another betting scam.

Passionate Brum, passionate mate, Rooney maybe a lot of things but stupid he isn't, Doom likes Rooney, he's a focused item, sometimes that gets him sent off or caught out, but in a world of stale "footballers" he's the modern day Rodney Marsh.

Two totally different footballers unless of course you are talking about their loose cannon attitudes.

Skill wise Marsh would have left Rooney for dead.

Unfortunately after England winning the world cup in "66", the order was, run your guts out. Skill from the likes Marsh, Tony Currie, Hoddle, Alan Hudson, and a few others were frowned upon, which was a great shame.

As good as Rooney is, his ball skills are nowhere near the above players.

Rooney, Tevez, Gerard, Lampard, etc, etc, havent we seen how fame and fortune turn talented people into arrogant pigheaded thugs, immoral backstabbing glory seekers who think they can do anything and suffer no consequences?

even the managers are the same, how many have got off speeding offences?

look at Rooney getting sent off against Montenegro, what were the odds on that?........ask his dad.......

Yeah it was loose cannon reference I was making.

Glenn Hoddle was the biggest waste of talent I ever saw, I know he got injured a bit but other than Beckham England haven't had someone who can distribute and dead ball that well ever since, Matt Taylor of West Ham Utd when he was younger was just like this when played in midfield, but hey ho, it's England and we are wasteful at times.

Even Gazza wasn't as good a The Hod.
