in thory she is but its unlikely, not much work will have been done if any.

If it's goes to Crown Court, or seems that it may, then the council will have to instruct a barrister, and gain an opinion.

Not cheap.

seriously?

do councils still do that?

They may, but I bet in this case they don't.

Surely they should give the dog a licence and pronounce her 'not fit and proper'.

Can you imagine it. Bet the car stinks and it isn't all the dog.

£20,000 cost of bid to carry dog in taxi

The Ludlow taxi driver at the centre of a two-year row over whether her dog should be allowed to travel in her car has finally won approval to take her pet with her. But her efforts have cost her more than £20,000.

Linda Hughes, who lives near Ludlow, has had to buy a new £17,000 Ford Tourneo and have a special people-proof, air-tight dog chamber fitted where the passenger seat should be. She has also had to stump up thousands of pounds in legal fees.

Council tax payers in south Shropshire have had to find £7,000 towards the cost of legal arguments between Miss Hughes and the authority’s licensing committee.

Today Miss Hughes said she was thrilled that Anna Cassandra IV, her pet Alsatian, was going to be allowed to travel with her on journeys.

South Shropshire District Council’s licensing committee yesterday granted permission for her to have her pet on board with her. But the decision does not necessarily pave the way for other vehicle drivers to take their pets with them on journeys.

Miss Hughes only won consent because she agreed to install a special people-proof dog chamber, which is air tight. Exhaled air, dead skin and hair from the dog will not come into contact with passengers, which will ensure asthma and allergy-sufferers are not affected.

It probably will, given that the container is air-tight :?

But even if it can breath, I doubt if it'll be much fun for it cooped up in there all day. Especially in such close proximity to Linda

Taxi driver continues to fight dog ban

A Ludlow taxi driver who lost an appeal against a decision to ban her pet dog from her vehicle is continuing her fight, she revealed today.

Private hire driver Linda Hughes, of Wheatcommon Lane, Ashford Bowdler, last month lost her right to keep white German Shepherd, Anna Cassandra IV, in her car during journeys.

Miss Hughes was told by magistrates that keeping a dog in a taxi, even behind a barrier, would pose a risk to public safety.

But she has now officially placed an appeal with the crown court against the magistrates' decision.

Miss Hughes, who runs Ludlovian Taxis, said: "We have put the appeal in because of the deadline of 21 days after the original decision.

"I am trying to contact national newspapers and different people to get funding. If I can get funding then we will carry on and if not then I will have to withdraw.

"If there is anybody out there who is a dog lover and believes in what I am doing, please get in touch."

Quote:
Meanwhile, South Shropshire District Council is planning a massive review of rules and regulations governing taxi drivers following the controversial court case.

A massive review of the rules. Wonder what they have in mind...

Against all odds Linda got her way but no doubt it cost her a pretty penny, at least she proved that perseverance can sometimes pay dividends?

By perseverance you might say 'dogged determination'? :D
