Was there an answer to my illegal hiring question somewhere in that post?

It's either yes or no.

The answer may be in Milton Keynes v Barry and/or Vant v Cripps (1963)
Both on TDO database.

Ok, One of the arguments by the Hackney drivers is that Arrow are allowed to ''rank''up facing the hackney carriage rank in full view of the public. This is one of the differences between Hackneys and PH...So, question is why are they allowed to do it ?

Because it's on private land, and the public isn't public from a public street or road, it's public under the control of the land owner.

I understand why you have the hump, and have a degree of sympathy for the cause, alas I'm not convinced you will win.

On a slightly different note, do customers get into those cars and leave without the vehicle being pre-booked?

No they have to book at the office or desks

Thank you Mr Tulsablue.

As no illegal pick ups are taking place (i.e. un-booked PH hirings), exactly what are the PH doing wrong? :?

The cars operated by Arrow at East Midlands Airport are licensed by North West Leicestershire, which is the local authority that covers the airport.

Manchester's Cab Committee have been forced to issue proceedings. The grounds for this action can be viewed here

Easily bored then Grandad!
I imagine Crawley will be very inertrested in the outcome of this, as Chequer Cars at Gatwick also rank up close to their TAXI
booking kiosk!

I know it probably needs to be worded the way it is but it is so damn repetitive. Arrow also do the same at East Midlands Airport although the sign out side the office just has "TAXI BOOKING OFFICE" on it. I would guess that Leeds/Bradford is similar. Don't Chequer cars also do it at Stansted?

This is going to cost someone(s) a bucket full of cash, and I'm not exactly sure what the prize is.

Even if the cab trade win on all points, are they really expecting Arrow to sit back and do nothing?

Do they think changing the signage and layout will bring them more work, and if so how much? :?

I was a little sceptical about the cab trades approach in this, I must add that I do actually quite like Pat Connor.

I think there's some very valid points, in particular not knowing who owns 98% of the company.......how can a license be issued unless a council is satisfied a person is fit and proper?

I am sure the cab trade approach has changed this time because they perhaps realise they're up against a company that might actually make a success of the airport. The last two were utter failures.

If they are taking advice from BR I feel they haven't been told about a certain Blackpool court case, which is available on here and on various websites, its regarding making a council add conditions to licenses, and the trade lost costing thousands.

I also think the mentioning of one of the court cases merely confuses the issue, there are better available.

I do hope they're successful though.
