So you're saying you took home well over £300 on Saturday alone? In fact around £350?

Well that's Mr QWERTY123456's question answered then

I earned the same myself when I was driving on a good Saturday night. The truth is though, it's a young mans game and the figures, Funguy, is quoting are far from achievable every weekend or day throughout the year. As I said before, try earning £430 plus £50 in tips most Saturday nights from January through to May. Once again, the time of the year can have a huge impact on your earnings, and luck plays a fair part.

Funguy, is picking the very best-case scenario and applying it to every day he's in the saddle as if the quiet times don't exist.

I think it's more about blowing his own trumpet than the reality of driving a taxi.

I suspect the bold boy has a good woman on a nice salary or a redundancy package in there somewhere, maybe even a bit of an inheritance.

I've heard all of this sh*t before and usually in the pub after a few beers. #-o For some guy's every night is a rugby international weekend.

so ur saying you take home 100 a day during the week after bills and 300 on a sat ??????

come on a know nothing about the black cab game but 700-800 a week sounds a bit much ..

why as others have said above would drivers be in a Q to get out the trade if they figures were realistic ...

others have said 300 is sometimes a struggle in 60 hours work and ur sayin 700 after bills atleast in 72 hours :?:

The bold Funguy's figures are doable, but it's hardly your average week. They are, however, typical of a City Cabs owner, rose-tinted point of view of the taxi trade. To do £400 on a Saturday night would mean, 12-14 hours falling into plums, with a good start time and no need to hurray back for changeover. Your £180 a night during the week, is a 12-hour grind without your ass ever leaving the saddle, but every night without fail. I don't think so somehow. Then there's the rental, can you imagine what a City Cab owner would charge if he thought you were doing £400 on a Saturday Night and £180 every other night.

You would kill yourself trying to make the above your average takings over the year.

Just try doing the above from January through to May. :-|

Agreed

Qwerty try not too listen to much from Skull 1 rank (Haymarket) until he got himself kicked out and AliT feared to drive after midnight so now makes his money Carpetbagging, they think they know but only ever PRESUME the situation, although Skull on this one is right, Funguy is talking in Maximums. Read my original Post, study and start Part time the value the situation for yourself, we are all different  Good luck :D

Funguy, on this occasion listen to Dougie, then you'll be in no doubt why the vast majority, especially on this forum, wants out of the taxi game. :-|

Chaps the worst thing any of us can do is talk money on an open forum, or in a cab to a punter.

Give general advice to folks wanting to know if the game's viable, but no-more than that else we're doomed. :-$

Personally, I believe what Funguy is telling us, £480 every Saturday night and £180 on a quiet day/night during the week. It must be great being a cabby. More money than a horse can [edited by admin].

What's that coming over the hill, is the tax man? Is it the tax maaan?

Don't know how you guys can be so cynical.

I mean, I regularly take £50 in tips on Saturday night.

Or maybe it's more like £5.00....never did have a head for figures #-o

It's a City Cabs thing. They wipe their ars*s with twenty-pound notes, and that's on a bad night. I think Funguy, is trying to convince himself of his highly successful business venture more than anyone else.

Weds are my day off if you must know and yes sat night was very very busy and yes my figure was £430 on the clock and £50 in tips. I am not fussed what you think but I have no reason to lie about any figures at all!! Why would I hid my ID and boast :?: :?:

I do about £800 to £900 per week working 5 shifts inc a sat night and the folk on here who know who I am can back me up! If your out a 4am weekdays then you can have £100 on the clock by 9, £150 by 12 and the rest by 4pm when I go home. Sat night I started at 4.30pm and I was home by 5.30am.

I know loads of folk who make the same and loads who dont. The ones who don't won't get up early to get the airport runs!

Everyday? well you are getting fed or it's.

I've got no strings
To hold me down
To make me fret, or make me frown
I had strings
But now I'm free
There are no strings on me

Hi-ho the me-ri-o
That's the only way to go
I want the world to know
Nothing ever worries me

I would say that if your in a company then you should make about £400 per week after deductions for working 5x12 hour shifts if one includes a Friday or Sat night.

I done just over £400 on sat for 13 hours and I know loads who made about the same for roughly the same hours but that was a very very busy sat night. I would look for £300 on a sat after fuel but then you take off about £70 for rent. During the week you can do about £180 before fuel and rent so you take home would be about £100.

Dont know what the street cars do so most on here could advise better. They are right though saying income is not the same as say 5 years ago

So you bagged £480 on Saturday, the £180 you cite for the other 4 days seems to be before tips, so you must be bagging £200 on weekdays?

Anyway, that's nearly £1,300 in the bag for the week.

Your rental seems to be £350, so that's £950 left.

Or perhaps I've been a bit optimisitic about the tips, so let's say £900 for easy counting.

Fuel? Surely £30 per shift average is more than enough. That's £150 for the week, so you take home £750?

Say you bag £300 less in a poor week, that's still a grand in the bag. Less rental leaves £650, so still taking home £500 after rental and fuel.

And not even working Friday by the looks of it.

Funguy, is an owner and probably scoring £300 off his driver. I bet he wishes he'd kept his mouth shut.
