More like 55 hours per week with the higher return on the sat night. I could not afford to do this job if it did not pay the bills. Thats why I work my ass off and don't take breaks! But I still enjoy doing it :D

It seems to me you are missing out on seeing your kids growing up mate,But hey glad you enjoy driving a piece of metal as opposed to seeing your kids grow up.

Guys its funny how u black cabbies always tell you they make nothing and never discuss figures....

I drive private hire and pick up from the airport as citycabs do these boys are hammered every day and will take a min of £200 a day

If you are a street cab you will make that but need to graff a little bit more

There you have it

That's answered all your questions

:)

A good private hire circuit will be able to provide you with a decent income, and you shouldn't need to work silly hours, but you will certainly need to be flexible as you won't make it work if you think you can work 9-5 ,5 days a week. The busiest times (for us) are 5am till 10am daily, afternoon,3 till 6pm,and Sat/Sunday daytimes. Sat night is always very busy. The savvy drivers do well from a combination of most of those shifts but they work hard for it.

I suspect some have left the trade, some might have left the earth, or some are on Uber making a killing and not worrying in about the black cab trade anymore.

I think the longer a time a driver works the less time the driver works.

I also think the better the economy is the less attractive our trade is.
