Hello, sorry in advance for not being an expert on maintenance! this is my first taxi after all..

I lived in uk several yrs and now i'm back in sicily where i own the taxi (i was driving down all the way no problem a couple of yrs ago).

The problem i noticed some days ago is some overheating when climbing hills and i went to nearby garage where they replaced the radiator... i dont know if this will sort out the original overheating cause i might need to replace thermostat or something else but now another prob has occurred!
The guy at the garage (obviously not an expert on london taxi) moved the gear selector lever to position "1" and now even if i select position "D" for normal use the car is not working regularly and it looks like there is an engine break operating..
the car not driving properly.... it looks like the clutch is not working and the taxi doesn't move smoothly

I dont know if my explenation is sufficiently clear but i really hope you can help.

many thanks in advance,
Alberto

Welcome to TDO Alberto, I suspect some of the experts on here will have the answer to your woes.

tks a lot i really hope someone out there will give me the solution for my beloved fairway!
i will check the gearbox oil; the gear selector lever is working fine... i can also reverse the car but still it seems the engine is working too hard before getting moving.

I would ask what colour the gearbox oil now is and ask if the gearbox filter has been changed.

At a guess... it sounds like it needs automatic transmission fluid....... and as for the overheating problem.... check the fan on the water pump is working correctly.
