I was simply pointing to how times have changed. What was acceptable in your mother and father's day would not be now? However, if it makes you happy to believe I was being derogatory then, so be it. :-| You obviously need to believe it more than I do.

Honestly, CC, you have me all wrong. I do not subscribe to a specific doctrine, political, philosophical or otherwise. The Orwellian quote you refer to, is simply a vision of a future which I thought relevant for today's Big Brother approach to society. Orwell, got it right.

Chomsky, on the other hand, describes himself as a Libertarian Socialist. I am not a socialist. I actually believe socialism to be a greasy pole because man is fundamentally corrupt. It's a nice thought but not very practical. However, one can strive for a fairer balance. One might argue this is happening now, through the internet.

Chomsky could describe himself as whatever he likes, he's still been proven more times wrong than right, indeed, he's reactionary, likewise with the f*ckwit known as gore vidal, social commentators with a background most of us would dream about.....its easier being a proper socialist when you got a bit of cash I suppose?

No need for that standard reply Skull :-|

Although me and you clash over cabs I also see other things in you, and I do think both CC and FP have misread you on this one myself, as it stands there is a fine line between war and peace, and it really is that balanced right now, or for a better way to put it, it's like payday on the Xmas club but the guy whose responsible for collecting and banking is saying he's lost the money and Xmas is ruined, all the people who've paid all year are now deciding whether to swallow it or kick his head in, and that is how I see the economic political balance right now.

There is an easy way to avoid it all going bad, but I'm not telling because why should I, they messed it up, I don't earn jack now thx to them and they get 200k to be the clever people, I think I'll just let them try to figure out how to avoid civil and possibly world war, that is how despairing I am right now of a world that is upside down on many issues right now, clue is, don't boot the dog and he won't bite you back, they can figure the rest out.

And no disrespect to you CC or FP, I'm basically on your side of things, but the fairness chip I got implanted with at birth says I must look at all angles, and with this one I think you did misread him. :)

Chomsky, is one of the foremost intellectuals of our time. There are few, if any, who can match his debating skills. It's a brave man who takes on Chomsky. I've read his books and watched, many a debate and have yet to see him in difficulty making a point. His knowledge is encyclopedic. You are of course entitled to your view but "proven more times wrong than right" I don't think. :-|

The internet chatter seems to be going down the route of economic collapse and War. I'm not sure what form this will take but there has to be a tipping point, and it can't be far away now. :-| What this will mean for everyone is anyone's guess, although I can't see many people hailing taxis. :-|

If the future is bleak for the employed, how bad is it for those not in work ?. Maybe you could answer this Skull ?. Please don’t think I’m being, “Derogatory”, it’s just that you, being a recipitent of, “State Benefit”, (Thank’s to people like me), might be, at this moment in time, the best person to ask. As far as Chomsky is concerned, (cos’ he lives in a mansion, and I don’t), does what he say make any difference ?. Not to the likes of me it don’t.

You seem scared Fairplay. I replied to Doom, with an honest answer, as I did you, and CC. You appear to be reading things into my posts I never intended. Perhaps we should make this thread about what appears to be on your mind? :?

Would you care to give an explanation as to what's on your mind? I can't help but get the feeling you are using this forum as some sort of catharsis. I take it things aren't going too well? :-|

We are all, (The majority ot people, that is), in the position we are because of the path we have chosen. Yes, we might not have had the advantages of others, but personally speaking, I’ve had loads of opportunities to have been more successful than I’ve been. I’m specifically talking about ones financial wealth. ( Btw mine isnae’ that good). But, some folk, (Skull), who just cannae’, “Hack it”, blame their misfortune on everyone else !. They mess things up, (But it’s no they’re fault), and all they’ve got left in life is hoping, nae’ praying, that things go wrong for others.... what a shame.

Where does all this come from? Let me assure you. I take no pleasure out of your misfortune and wish you no harm. I really don't care about the taxi trade any-more. It's beyond help. And I certainly don't blame anyone for my decisions and have no regrets upon getting out. It was what I had to do. :-|

Upon a second reading of your mother and father's life raising a family of five cockroaches, I can now see how you believe you've come a long way but unfortunately, still don't know any better. It's genetic, maybe ignorance is bliss after all.

Let’s see if you’re, sober enough, or man enough, to apologise for this.
