Slightly off topic, but not a lot, I watched this fascinating program tonight on the bailout of RBS.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... _of_Money/

Now I don't know too much about banking, and even less about Scottish Independence, but anyone who thinks the Scottish economy could have dealt with the mess surrounding the RBS bailout on their own, is most certainly living in cloud cuckoo land.

I agree, but all they did was to put off the inevitable, and make matters even worse. The bailout wasn't really a bailout. It was more about buying time for those that caused the crash to make it to the life boats before the ship goes down. It's the little people left on deck who are facing the real problem, and now it's every man for himself.

The next three to four years is going to be like nothing we've ever seen before and even when the dust begins to settle, it's going to be a long time before things get better.

However, if you're looking for balance, consider the predictions of Peter Schiff, Nouriel Roubini or Charles Nenner, although Nenner, like Celente, is predicting a major War by 2013.

I tend to go with Celente because he's prepared to wear his heart on his sleeve and telling it how it is, but I don't think Nenner is far behind.

An Economic 9/11

Yes, it seems the pandas are the most important issue in Scotland at the moment.

I wonder if there's any significance in the fact that just as Alex Salmond was landing in China the pandas were coming the other way.

But I suppose he does sort of resemble a human giant panda.

What's the difference between a Panda and Salmond?

A Panda eats bamboo ... Salmond is just a bam.

Do you think the above might affect tourism and business back and forth to the UK, next year? #-o

I would beg to differ, the number of views on this thread tells a different story. It's a quiet time of year but there are those who might not make it through next year, without trying to sell-up or having to find another job.

I spoke to a guy only yesterday, and he told me he can't cut back any further on his out goings, and if things get worse, the taxis will have to go.

Anyhoo, I stated that “Most of you don't even want to look at what's happening in the World, but if you think, the last couple of years were hard, think again” right at the begging of the thread.

Personally, I think they are [edited by admin] themselves about what might be just around the corner. And whatever comes, it's only going to be bad. This is the matter for conjecture.

Incidentally CC, with Christmas around the corner few are interested in Taxi Forums. This, for some, is welcome distraction but trust me, that will all change in the new year. The [edited by admin], will inevitably hit the fan.

As for Eck Salmond, I don't like the man, but he is the consummate politician. He'll be sitting back working out how he can benefit from the economic disaster heading our way.

Actually, that reminds me of a book I read, THE SHOCK DOCTRINE by Naomi Klein. Well worth a read, all about disaster capitalism.
