   That's bad. I have one, it's stupid. Whilst it is sometimes useful it's far from foolproof. The one I used to have was so much better

had an accident in october which saw no claim by me or the other vehicle and had the insurers word that my NCB was re-instated and wouldnt affect my premium of £1250 last year

Premiums are still rising. The biggest %age rises are still in the urban areas. Slough, Windsor, Reading are all rocketing at the moment. Rural areas are showing more modest increases, some now under 10%. We rarely agree to quote in the big cities now cos our rates aren't competitive.

Be very careful with renewals and seeking new quotes cos a number of insurance companies are looking very closely at claims history using the Claims & Underwriting Exchange. We have just had a client have their new policy declared void from inception due to non disclosure. He does get a refund but is tarnished with the "ever had insurance refused or cancelled" brush.

His crime? He had had 4 non fault accidents in the last 5 years. He had not involved his own insurance company at all but had used a claims management company to recover his uninsured losses. What happens then is that the ins co's he claimed from enter his details onto the Claims & Underwriting Exchange.

English is not this chap's native tounge so I think what it boiled down to was a non fault claim is not a claim. But as we all know, that is not what the question on the form says!

Anyway, the ins co we placed him with voided his policy for not disclosing the 4 non fault claims but went on to say the would not have quoted anyway as they do not offer cover for people with that many claims, regardless of blame.

FYI for anyone insured with Aviva/TFP Schemes, they are checking ALL policies on CUE. The other popular area for non disclosure is spouse/child having an accident in separate private car belonging to the person applying for taxi insurance. To find out more go to www.cueuk.org. You will see you can apply for your record for £10, a bit like your credit file I guess!

It won't go down anymore, CC summed it all up in this months Taxi Talk, when you've got firms charging over £120 a day for a loan car they aren't exactly going to come down are they?

Something to watch for.

Not only is insurance going up but watch out for the "Excess".

I had one quote and thought that the excess was £350, but it turned out that the other figure underneath that mentioned a voluntary £150 was a combination of the two i.e £500.

My point being is that it would probably take a claim worth over £700+ before you/I would go to our insurance Company before we made a claim..............we in effect are covering the first £700+ as it would affect your premium next time around.

I can see a scenario whereby we will end up taking a £700/£1000 fault accident on the chin in order to keep the premiums down.

if you pay £1500 nett and have 50% NCB your NCB is worth £1500...........in year one, it will take 3-4 years to build back up, at what cost?

i paid £350 to have a repair (cash) rather than pay £500 xcess on a £1200 panel replacement and lose £1000+ NCB

basically id only claim if i wrote the car off, and id walk away from the job....
