How woulld I know how much your drivers pay you?

All I know is that licences are restricted thus rentals must be inflated.

Ok you don't know how much Mr T charges for rentals but you must have an idea of how much you think 'inflated' is?

just restrict them from attaining a licence.... drivers licence....

Well I did say this the other day to you when I suggested if you improve the driver standards you slow down the up take of drivers, but, I am honest about it and I do believe the public will benefit in the long run and the greedy ph companies will not  In the meantime I don't think derestriction/free for all works and it's best for all concerned if drivers can at least earn a living and if that means restricted taxis then so be it

So plates don't have a resale value in Sefton then? If they do then ergo they have a rental value as well then, unless of course any particular proprietor is running his operation as a charity, but that's certainly not the norm.

Yes, more or less, you said;

I think you're quoting one paragraph or so out of several thousand

I think if you look at the evidence as a whole you'll find the facts don't appear to add up.

But if you want further proof look at the Wirral surveys......some might suggest even with a truly massive increase in taxi numbers the SUD still couldnt be satisfied due to how complex some areas are.......would you spend £30K plus to serve 3 or 4 passengers in a rural area?

I didn't ask you that did I and you know I didn't. How much do you think in ££££s is an inflated price for a rental

Your money mad you

If JD was here we'd have plate values I guess........how many plate values are in excess of the price of a 2 year old WAV side loader?

But you're citing on small facet of the OFT's case - ie you're citing the OFT's case when it suits - but ignoring the overwhelming thrust of the report. You can't have it both ways.

You said:

Quote:
But according to annex c of the oft report the taxi service in a deregulated area is actually worse than a regulated one.....wheres the public benefit in that?

or did you forget the public?

But as a whole the OFT said precisely the opposite, and cited the public benefit, so it's a bit rich to quote the OFT for your own ends.

Yes, the surveys are pish, tell me something I haven't being saying for years.

But it seems they're OK when they come up with the right answer

More than the rate would be if the market was unrestricted

Put it another way, why does Mr T get so uptight at the thought of derestriction?

I don't think his rates are any more expensive than they are here tbh so you're argument isn't based on fact it's based on presumption

The overwhelming thrust in despite of the facts they put there? Even you aint that DaFT.

How do the public benefit from PH firms going HC with little or no competition in prices?

No the surveys prove a point......that the public should be consulted and the LA's and trade need to act upon them
