I'm not sure where you're coming from CC. Are you trying to add to Chomsky's credibility as a commentator on World affairs, or are you trying to discredit him in some way? You are aware that over the last fifty years, Chomsky has written dozens of books and countless articles as well as speaking on a variety of subjects all over the World on request?

Chomsky is not infallible but the context in which comments are made is all important.

If this is all, you can come up with, then surely it's only testimony to Chomsky as an academic and speaker of the highest standard.

Now look at David Campbell's Bio http://www.david-campbell.org/bio/ and compare it to Chomsky's, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noam_Chomsky

Don't get me wrong, David Campbell might be every bit as credible as Chomsky, but he is no less infallible, and somehow I don't think he's in Chomsky's league.

Btw, I would be careful of using the Guardian News Paper as a credible source.

I dont disagree......but the Guardian is a paper of the left and one would think it would sympathise with Chompsky.

So the guy was wrong.....it doesnt deflect his sensible views about other things....but he was wrong about the Khymer Rouge and the war in the Balkans.....which were major errors of judgement on his part.

It usually does, I'm just glad my needs are few

You need a longer dress to hide your bawbags toots

Anyway, Cami knickers tory boy has delivered salmon man independence. If we're in the UK sidelines now, by the time he's finished we'll be outside europe's door knocking to get back in.

And there'll be millions of extra jobless as 50% of our export market spends its cash elsewhere. Never mind, the cami's bwankers will still be able to happily rip us off. And the numpties on this forum will happily doff their caps and smile as they do so.

There's nothing more jolly than happy slaves relishing being happy slaves.

It's not Chomsky's style for his argument to depend on such thin evidence circumstantial or otherwise. If you watch his debates when Chomsky is challenged, he introduces other sources of evidence or clarifies the point he's making. He never relies on one persons account and takes it as gospel. I've watched many of his interviews and when taken out of context, he reasserts his point with an even greater clarity.

I think it's a bit strong to claim he was wrong, simply on David Campbell's say so. I might also point out that, even if David Campbell was correct, he's a lightweight in comparison to Chomsky.

People like Chomsky always have their detractors but most are desperate for some sort of intellectual kudos for themselves. I don't think you would ever see David Campbell take Chomsky on in a debate without getting ripped to pieces. They say talk is cheap, but few put their heads above the parapet to take him on. And the ones that do usually live to regret it.

Oh and as for the Observer or Guardian news papers being likely to support Chomsky. :-|

Incidentally, I think everything being said is an understatement. Things are going to get much worse.

Well, guys, with the world about to descend into a 1930's style, inflationary depression, licence plate "values" should be seen to plummet by the end of 2012. Anyone thinking about selling out and buying back in at a later date should do it now. On the other hand, anyone looking forward to buying in should wait for a little while, your opportunity to snap one up on the cheap is just around the corner. :-|

Oh and don't shoot the messenger. :-|

(Reuters) - The ancient Mayans attached special significance to 2012, possibly the end of time. That has spawned a rush of apocalyptic literature for the holiday season.

So what you're saying is that if Ali T gets yet another plate then he should offload it ASAP to someone who doesn't share your insight into the state of the market? :?
