and finally what does plate value have to do with this incident?

It's often argued that derestriction would lead to drivers fighting over fares and suchlike. As a corollary the amount of sweetness and light in the trade can presumably be ascertained by the plate value. #-o

mr dusty bin you say you work in a restricted area, how much is the plate premium thier?

Not sure precisely, but it's not the kind of money you'd get out of bed for :D

Thought you'd left the trade anyway?

What I really should have asked was, "I thought you'd sold your plate"?

I thought I'd answered to the best of my ability?

Put it this way, the reason it's difficult to quantify is because obviously the price includes the vehicle, but if the plate is low value then it's difficult to decide what element of the purchase price is attributable to the vehicle, and which to the plate.

If the plate is worth a lot more than the vehicle then obviously it's a lot easier to calculate the value of the plate with more certainty.

Put it another way, normally the vehicle is worth a bit more than the plate, which is why it's difficult to get a precise plate value.

Well say a saloon car aged 4-7 years old, high mileage, with meter and toplight, selling for maybe £3-7,000 with plate, approx, sort of.

If I was that interested I would pay more attention.
