Well I can kind of see the logic in that a suspension could 'make' a driver fit and proper, but not the bit about, er, suspending the suspension until the 27th.

Perhaps the thinking is that if he missed out on the Christmas rush then it would make him worse rather than rehabilitate him, a bit like the argument that a prison sentence would make a criminal worse rather than rehabilitate - too harsh a punishment can be counterproductive.

Either that or they don't have a clue ](*,)

The law appears to be clear in respect of section 52 and immediate suspensions......the clue is the word 'immediate'.

Yes, but 'immediate' by our standards could take quite a long time in local government land, particularly with their three or four week festive break

This driver is a menace to the people of Ashfield, like I said in the first post he's been reported for overcharging X4, dangerous driving in a PEDESTRIAN AREA of Sutton in Ashfield where NO VEHICLES ARE ALLOWED, driving while using his mobile phone with PASSENGERS ON BOARD.

All the above are just a small amount of complaints received from the members of the public that have been reported to the Council. On a daily basis you can hear the Radio op shouting the driver concerned asking him why he charged that much and, there's been another complaint about your driving again tonight, the Radio op must have shouted him five or six times to tell him about the complaints that were coming through about him.

I'll give you a run down of his overcharging a £4 job £11, a £6 job £16, a £3 minimum fare £5, a £10 job £25.

Jimbo you've got problems with me asking the Council why they didn't use section 52? I'll send him and his brethans over to Lincoln for a few months, they'll soon decimate the Hackney Trade.

I dont think people are disagreeing with the driver being suspended......just the abuse of section 52.

Why does the company still employ him/take his rent, can't be a good example for the firm ? Let him work for a competitor and drag their reputation down.

Yeah he's still there, the reason he's still there is the owner is scared they / he will play the Racist card if he got rid of him / them. Basically the owner doesn't give two F**KS as long as his money is on the table on a Monday morning.

It's sad it's come to this but it's been coming for a few weeks now.

The company now has a good excuse to get shot of him, as he cannot work through his own stupidity they can fire him

Doubt that will happen Skip, he's made a rod for his own back by setting them on. It's ready to implode on itself at the moment.
