I'm guessing that quote related to proper signage, not the noddy cars.

I doubt if anyone can conclude that all passengers like a screen or not. Some no doubt do, some won't.

It also probably has a lot to do with other aspects of the vehicle rather than a screen per se.

But even if some passengers don't like a screen, there's a bit of a difference between that and being in the driver's lap

Are the Smart cars to be offered as a distinct service at a discounted price? If so I could understand the attraction to the customer.

But if they just turn up at random then I suspect there'll be quite a few disgruntled customers.

Targeted for specific customer needs. No one expecting hack or a PH would have one of these instead unless they had specifically agreed.

It's not a dumbing down, its new offer of a service that some customer will grasp.

Small vehicles, using less fuel, less emissions, nippier through traffic an priced accordingly.

It's not going to suit everyone.
But it does address the problem that taxi trade has with ts insistence that on size fits all, and tough if it doesn't suit the customer. Take it r leave it.

Like or not, the taxi trade has gone from a one stop solution to a niche market. That is what slavish adherence to the stats quo has delivered.

hat s where city and central have taken the trade. Two dinosaurs unable to survive in the modern world. And principally because they're run by unqualified amateurs.

"smart cars use the greenway as theyre greener"

Now Mr Taylor, that must be a lie, as you are well aware that phc are not allowed to use greenways in Edinburgh.

Well get used to the idea that they are going.

PH are taxis. End of.

That's what customers think.

All over the country they are recognised as such and allowed access to the buslanes.

That Edinburgh refuses to allow them access here is discriminatory and mitigates against the interests of customers.

What right has the council to mitigate against the interests of customers.

So, it's going to happen here.

Another vested interest of the trade is going to disappear. Even if it takes a prosecution by the council to decide it.

I already have the argument prepared. I'm just waiting for the opportunity.

Do you doubt it?

I suspect few of you have ever travelled in a smart car.

If your choice was standing in a rank out at the airport or anywhere in the City, on your lonesome, or being delivered to your destination, what would it be?

Novelty sells and raises your company profile.

Doesn't CRT, have a Smart Car? :?

The Smart car is a gimmick, if it was publicity they were after, they’ve achieved it, well done but it’s a gimmick. Things are tough for everyone just now, but if the motor you’re driving is limited to picking up just one person, how tough will it be on that driver ?. Now, if that driver happened to be Jasbar, (He’s now the ECPH mouthpiece) he would be an even bigger laughing stock than he is now !. He’s alienated himself from the Hacks, he’s now driving PH, and now it looks like he’s firing himself in drive one o’ these silly cars up and doon’ the Greenways besause he’s got a prepared speech for court ?. His new company must be loving this !. He must, MUST, know, that they will drop him like a, “Hot tattie,” as soon as it suits them.... I feel sorry for the guy.

You think it's a gimmick?

You could be right.

But then, the first MP3 player was a gimmick ... the rest is history

It's a gimmick at the fraction of the cost of a Mercedes Benz. How many gimmicks can you afford before it starts to hurt those with much higher running costs.

How much is new Merc these days?

I think a brand new smart car is around 9K.

Skull, I've already said that the only person that would be hurting would be the the driver of the "Smart Car". But, I'm glad that you agree it's a gimmick.

That's absolute rubbish. The driver of the smart car is paid only sixty pence less than the driver of a Mercedes carrying 5 passenger. The smart car is far cheaper to run from the outset to that of a Merc, or Tx.

:?
