Brilliant btw, a Company has convinced the Cooncil’ that “Smack-heads, & rat-arsed wekend revellers,” are so “Eco Conscious,” that this might be a GOER ? ... HA HA HA HA HA HA !!

Did someone convinced them an overpriced heap of scrap from coventry was a goer.....from memory?

And were the smack-heads and weekend pish-heads consulted about the economics of attaching a £40k plastic licence plate to the said "overpriced heap of scrap" might be a "GOER", Fairplay?

Oh and John, you took your plate off the market because you couldn't get what you wanted, and now, you're stuck with it. Oh and trust me John, you have, little prospect of ever seeing its “value” increasing, quite the opposite.

That's life John, you missed your chance, and now you've bought a ringside seat to a depreciating market with diminishing returns.

If the recession, inflationary depression doesn't get you, trust me, the Ph will. Your market is under immense pressure, and is doing very little to help itself. :-|

Jasber, remember a couple of years ago.... When you and Skull were checking out ECPH premises ?. Smugly walking about the place, telling them that reducing prices was the wrong thing to do during a recession ?. ( It’s all on this site btw). Well, well, well...Who would have thought, eh ?. Skull, “Marciano,” persona non gratas, and Jim, “I’ll be your dog,” Taylor.... How things can change

Aye, I can see your stand up routine is coming along

While you're trawling through old posts, why not go the whole hog and tell us all how you were warned what was going to happen, and how it clearly has.

You hang on to your illusion and you'll always work. But you're gonna be welded to the saddle, unable to get off your seat unless to doff your cap.

As for smugly walking about ECPH premises, well at least we were curious to see what the competition was doing. Arrogantly the trade didn't even view them as competition. They considered that the guy in front of them on the rank was who they were competing with and did everything they could to restrict the number of guys who could sit on their rank.

But we all know that while the trade was sitting with its finger up its erky PH were increasing and updating their fleets, improving the quality of their drivers and slashing prices.

Taxis have come to PH. The customer aint gonna know the difference. Apaert from the lower price of course. The fatuous price hike you're engaged in is going to look like little more than greed. Guy gets into a quality people carrier tailored to his needs, he's wondering how the heck hacks are so dear.

Niche market v Nice market.

That's what the customer sees.

The customer loyalty that exists is phenomenal. And it's building.

Are you true to yourself John, or are you hanging on to some dream you bought with that soon to be, worthless piece of plastic? What, and you think I want to be like you because you need to believe as much, in order for your pathetic existence to have some meaning. Give yourself a shake for ffs, you're the one who's living in fear. Your little illusion is crumbling before your very eyes, and you can hardly bring yourself to look at it.

Who would have thought, the mere mention of a Smart Car could strike such fear into a mans heart?

Aye John, I simply can't work out why anyone wouldn't want to be as wealthy as you. #-o

To have any significant effect the
Phc will have to have à significant amount of smart cars !!! I wonder where the obvious significant amount of money and drivers are going to come from ? In my opinion it won't work, insignificant is more of à likley outcome

How many smart card are PH gonna put on the road?

No where near enough to be a viable option. Customer will take the first option they have. The everyday person commuting just wants to get there. And how long will it be before another PH gets lost going to the airport?

To my mind, the Smart has few advantages over traditional HCs and PHs.

The reduction in running cost, on a Journey by Journey basis, infinitesimal. So that any "Lower Fare", over about 4%, will come out of the Owner/Drivers pocket.

Don't see how you arrive at this.

Drivers, employed on full employment contracts by the company, how does pricing affect them, other than their being busily and gainfully employed of course?

You really have to learn how to think outside the box and refrain from trotting out all of the usual trade guff you're prone to mindlessly regurgitating.

I've already told you that all of the innovation is coming from the private hire taxi side side of the market. What part of this can't you understand?

So Mr Think outside the boxer    How many of these Smart cars will it take to have a massive impact on our Trade :?:

The whole idea smells like the 30% discounted meter promotion, which FAILED

I can imagine the scene though, a 20 stone driver in a smart car   The Police look stupid in their Smart cars and you can see they feel uncomfortable driving them

Jim c'mon son Think outside your blurred vision

I don't know :D

This kind of promotion has no effect on street cars, when there's demand the street cars are busy, the promotion is all about advertising their phone number    So again the PHC will to have a significant amount of smart cars to have any kind of affect.

Bring it on i say

jasbar: Simple Economics really.

I have no problem with PH Companies using Smarts but, unless the profit margin on an ordinary PH is huge, the running costs are very similar.

Although the Capital Cost is lower. If you cost that on a"Journey by Journey" basis it will be largely irrelevant as well.

I can't see what advantage they will get, and that will be the only reason to start using them in any numbers.

I just love you guys.

You're so funny.

There you have a PH company, that is going to become a taxi and PH company, that will become a taxi company, offering a range of vehicles matched to customer needs, responding quickly because they are 100% dedicated to and dependent on their call work (no need for magic circles to force drivers to do the work), priced competitively, and building real customer loyalty and all you can do is beat your gums and say that the current initiative will make no difference to you, when all their previous initiatives already have.

You're soooooo funny .... or is it just stupid?

I can't wait to see the effect of your latest price hike wheeze. It's gonna be a gas. I can see the advertising campaign now.

And I can't wait for the day when their taxis are operating in the general fleet, with their reduced tariff on them and their superside adverts bearing the company ID.

And there you'll still be saying they're making no difference to you and they're failing, when the punter walks up to the rank and can see which car its in their interests to take.

Ah well, at least you have the consolation of you being first class f&ckwits
