When I was a lad of seven years of age, and dad sent us down pit for sixteen hour shifts with no shoes to wear and a can of dirty water to drink, yeh right - and you lot think you got it hard - Cardiff pop 304/310,000 - 967 hacks  and probably 1200 P.H - do not start me off.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL - be safe and smile - its the smile that gets em, they are wondering what you know that they do not know

LAs compound the issue by insisting PH have door stickers which the beer-affected see as taxi signs and in some areas also insisting PH have rooflights, lets see, if someone wanted a ride home (lets say the young female crews) would they choose the car with no rooflight or signs or the one with door stickers and rooflights with the tiny writing they cant focus on? or the car with nothing to say its a carrier for hire and reward?.....

real tricky question

and also, if my LA really is convinced non-hacks should have door stickers in bright yellow why is a "executive" plate option which doesnt need yellow door stickers available? (but costs extra each year to plate)......

now if i was cynical twisted and bitter........

GA, you dont have it so bad, 330 hacks for a population 190k = 575 head of pop per Hack.
In Manchester we have 418 head/hack. Liverpool have 328 head/hack.

It is already happening. In my LA the cost of getting a turn on the largest circuit is substantial. £5000 non refundable joining fee then about £180 radio rent; not car, just radio. £10000 gives you 2 cars and a lower radio rent and £30000 ish to become a "shareholder" and that pretty much allows you any number of cars.

Hack nos are restricted and it does tend to be "non local" people buying plates when they become available. I think the last one went for £18000. Hacks can join the circuit mentioned above. The largest firm has about 107 cars the next about 65.

round here there are no joining fees and the radio rents vary from £20 to £50 a week
