If the LO, as you say, haven't got a clue about the job when they go into the course and still haven't got a clue about the job after the course, then the course is no good is it #-o

Maybe our Councils should Monitor the Courses, in real time, now and again.

Yes, we could have someone who doesnt actually understand the job, monitor a course run by someone who doesnt understand the job.

makes perfect sense.

As I pointed out then if the person who is monitoring the course still doesn't understand the job when they finish the course then clearly the course is c*ap, job done imo

How is it monitored.....and what is the expected improvement rate....afterall the only reason a council would adopt a course would be because theres a fault there.....and of course the only reason they'd adopt one would be to improve the place.

where's the results of these courses?

Is there proof that complaints are reduced.

I personally dont think there is......I've been around too long now I guess.....I havent seen training companies boast of improvements (possibly because they're all fly by nights.......and I still read the same sh*t stories about the licensed trade as I did when I first subscribed to TDO.

so whats the f*cking difference.....between that and costing a cab driver a few more quid.....to do a job he was doing anyway?

I see your point I really do and I'm not going argue with you about experienced drivers. You know I've never advocated 'fly by night trainers' but when I have spoken to guys about the training they should be doing (not the NVQ) they actually agree it would be useful for them and they say they wouldn't have minded doing the courses if the things I suggested had been included in them. I don't believe that it's the 'training' that is the issue here it is the content of the courses that is the issue and nobody in the trade is prepared to do anything about it

Yes, but given my consideration it is patently obvious whatever we have it dependant upon results.

We currently have no results at all, we have unions going across the country and indeed to the law commission, saying training is the solution, yet there is no proof.

As I said, if a local authority in 2000 had 100 complaints.....then 5 years later with more drivers licensed, but all were trained there were 60 complaints....that would be a figure....an improvement.

At the moment there is nothing.....either people can't be a*sed to do the stats.....or there has been no change.

And if there's been no change....then what was the point?

That's cos the only people interested in the stats can't afford to take time off work to do them
