I was saying just the other day that it won't be long before the Argies launch another attack on the Falklands. We have de-commissioned our aircraft carriers so we can't deploy enough planes to the area. We have got rid of some army personnel so we probably can't mount the same sort of operation that we did in the '90s.

Since they found the oil a few years ago the Argies have been licking their lips at the thoughts of taking the Falklands again.

Like Grandad said they won't have any problems this time because Cameron has cut our armed forces.

The argies will wait until all the oil fields are developed and then seize them why make the effort now when the development costs would be huge why not wait untill billions of pounds of uk money has been poured into them. The Americans will not intervene because they know full well that all that oil in Argentine hands would flow into US refineries and not European ones

and as we all know this is all about the oil nothing else

I used to make the barrels for the guns that we fitted to our war ships to fool the Exocet missiles. This was after the Falklands war, not before it. They would detect the incoming missile and within less than a second they would automatically point in the direction of the missile and fire out huge quantities of silver foil. This gave the impression of there being a ship about 20 to 30 yards nearer and the Exocet would explode early.

It would be simpler to sell off the oil rights to any around the Falklands, take a few £Billion and let em get on with it

We have no spare Navy or Air force to go and fight the Argies now and the Army is fully occupied freeing Iraq and Afghanistan, doubtless soon the flow off illegals will stop and all those here will want to get back home...

Will us owning the Falklands oil mean lower fuel bills here - I very much doubt that

Didn't we leave Iraq a couple of years ago now?
