Narcissist.... (AKA Gary)

"Narcissism is a psychological condition defined as a total obsession with self, to the exclusion of almost all other interaction with people. Narcissism is often characterized by a lack of empathy for others, an immature sense of humor, sadistic or destructive tendencies towards other people, and a compulsion to satisfy personal needs without regard for others. People suffering from narcissism can be extremely introverted in social situations, tending to avoid deep friendships or commitments to career or family". (wiseGEEK)

I think you must find me a little unnerving John. I don't recognise the "total obsession with self, to the exclusion of almost all other interactions with people." That's not me. :-s

"Characterised by a lack of empathy" I'll give you the lack of empathy but only with certain types of people depending on the circumstances.

"Humor" it's a matter of taste, and I don't really think that applies to me.

"Sadistic or destructive tendencies towards other people" yes, once again, depending on the circumstances.

" a compulsion to satisfy personal needs without regard for others." that's a tough one, I wouldn't call it a “compulsion” more of a choice, I think it comes down to context. :-k

"Introverted" yes, but not extremely, it's true to say I like my own company but only because I find most people boring. :-|

How would you describe yourself, John, apart from delusional? :-|

How would I describe myself ?. I’d rather no attempt it, simply because subjectivity would cancel oot’ objectivity, would it not ?. However, your last response hardly disproves me calling you narcissistic, but I can fully understand folk just referring to you as a bampot, which you are.

Not necessarily, it's about being honest with oneself, why don't you give it, a try and I'll help you with the objectivity part? As for being narcissistic, it's a question of degree. Very few people will fulfill all the character traits in the definition you've used.

Oh an I take the bampot, comment as a compliment, when it comes from the likes of you.

Come on John, don't hold back, do your best to give us a description of who you really are? Speak from the heart. :)

John, have you noticed that, when you ask me a question, I try to answer it candidly but when I ask you a question, you run away and hide under your Niddrie rock?

I'm also curious about what you think you are trying to protect with your stupid ill thought out comments? :?

I know it’s difficult for any of us to accept that we’ve changed, and in your case Gary, for the worse. As I said, how can anybody be totally, “Objective,” of oneself. Here’s a suggestion pal. Strategically position a video camera, ( I know you’ve got one... obviously), somewhere where it will capture yourself for the most part of the day. Near the computer perhaps ?. Review the 22 hour footage the following day, it might reveal certain things that you’re not aware of. Was there any twitching of an eye ?. Spasmodic movement in an arm, or a leg, or both ?. Outbursts of demonic laughter ?. It’s got to be worth a try mate... Then, take the film to your GP, or better still, a Psychiatrist, and ask them, “Am I mad”. Remember Gary, there’s less stigma attatched to mental illness nowadays.... ( At least that’s what we keep telling aw’ you nutcases). Get well soon....

Wyoming legislator David Miller introduces “doomsday” bill

Wyoming Republican state legislator David Miller has introduced a bill to prepare his state for a doomsday scenario in which the nation's economy and social structure completely collapse.

"Things happen quickly sometimes — look at Libya, look at Egypt, look at those situations," Miller told the Star-Tribune. "We wouldn't have time to meet as a legislature or even in a special session to do anything to respond."

Miller's bill seeks to create a state-run continuity force that would study and prepare Wyoming for potential national or worldwide catastrophes. One specific component of the bill calls for the state to look into the possibility of issuing its own currency in the event the U.S. dollar collapses.

"If we continue down this course, this is the way any society ends up — with a valueless currency," Miller told the Star-Tribune.

Miller's original bill would have appropriated $32,000 for the task force, but the state's Joint Appropriations Committee has already cut the number in half. Six other states have attempted a similar currency creation effort in recent years — and all have failed. While Miller's bill may sound a bit extreme, there have been genuine concerns about the devaluation of U.S. currency in recent years. Last year, the International Monetary Fund predicted that China's economy would overtake that of the U.S. in five years.

But there have been accusations that certain businesses are preying on fears of economic insecurity by plugging cash for gold programs, resulting in individuals selling their precious metals for less than market value.

The Star-Tribune notes that Wyoming's Department of Homeland Security already has a statewide crisis management plan, but it does not include the so-called doomsday scenario. Miller's bill calls for coordination between Wyoming's Homeland Security along with the state attorney general and National Guard adjutant general.

The doomsday bill is sure to inspire criticism and even ridicule from some corners, but Miller says his priority is Wyoming. "I don't represent people in Illinois or New Jersey," he said. "I represent people in Wyoming. And I want them to be protected from any catastrophic events that may beset the rest of the country."
If you'd like to do your own doomsday preparations, the National Geographic channel is running its own "Doomsday Preppers" TV show. Professional prepper Scott Hunt has offered his own Top 10 list for practical prepping:

1.Water filter or water purification equipment

2.Food — Prepared meals like MREs (meal ready to eat) and dehydrated meals

3.Security tools, firearms, mace, stun gun, club

4. Bug out Bag- a backpack with 3 days worth of survival supplies including, water, food, first aide kit, weapons, portable stove, and fire starting equipment.

5. Portable Shelter i.e. Tents, Ponchos, tarps

6. First aid kit to include a supply of personal Meds

7. Stored fuel for vehicles, generators etc.

8. Back up communication i.e. cb, walkie talkie, ham radio

9. Generator- for power

10.Smoke detectors and fire extinguishers in home
