If my memory serves me right the lads here pay more for a permit than anywhere else.

To keep the rank, or to keep others out? Maybe both, but not for much longer methinks. :-k

I wonder who gets the missing £10,000.

£68,000 x 2 = £126,000?

His brother had the other ten gees in expenses when he took the rest of the money to the other brothers in a far-off land, where the Adhān is practiced.

Because East Coust will simply ask one of the large PH firms if they wish to pay?

They can ask, but the Eastbourne case says it would be illegal.

I suspect that either the drivers will cough up a lot of money or one of the large PH operators who have got access to that sort of money will move in and then charge the drivers similar prices to York to work the station

If the existing rank is in full view of the public just walking down the road, would it be legal for PH to wait there for their pre booked fares from the train? Would passengers queue up at the booking office to book a PH?

They got Watford wrong.

But one of the issues that came out was that for a plying offence to take place the driver must be in the car.

If there was anyone on the rank that was sensible and articualte enough to speak to East Coast and who had the will to do so, then they could possibly sort this mess out without any or the minimum of disruption.

I have no doubt that there are some on the rank in Newcastle that would be able to negotiate a solution, but I bet those that could be able to do so can't be arse, because there are so many diverse views on the rank that all they would get for resolving the matter is a load of abuse from individuals, instead of the thanks they would deserve.

And hey, there in a nutshell is the problem with the trade!!!

wouldn't it be illigal if private firm gets it as they'll have to pre-book the fare with an operator so the fare is legal
As most people would Just come out the station and get into the PH asuming its a taxi
Safest thing to do is not give it to PH and allow hackney carriage taxis to rank up so all customers are safe and there journeys are legal.

More likely the PH firm would set up their own kiosk and also recruit a few hackneys onto the books

East Coast trains used a third party to collect station pass fees, the third party "dissappears" the money, and East coast think the drivers should pay again, even though there must have been a contract between East Coast and the management company.

East Coast trains used a third party (Fraser Eagle) to PAY Taxi Drivers, for work done, Fraser Eagle "dissappears" the money paid to them by East coast to pay for taxis, and when the Taxi companies contact East coast to complain were told to Feck Off your contract was between you and Fraser Eagle.

Who says you can't have your cake and eat it too?
