are you talking about what I call my "anti-kidnap button" (an internal switch that operates the central locking)? I'm not sure but I think there's a mechanical switch on the doors themselves that can stop the internal handle from operating. (which is what I think toots is thinking of) I also believe it's not allowed to be utilised on a taxi/ph (but I may be, and probably am, wrong on that point)

Toots: In my Hack, by using the indicator, I can maintain the Traffic Side Locks leaving the Passengers are free to leave by the Pavement-side Door, whichever that should be.

If, through negligence, I allowed a Passenger to step out of the Traffic-side Door, and injury or damage resulted. Then I could be held 'vicariously' liable. In other words, 'As the Controlling party, I would have partial responsibility.'

I thought that the button in the car that activated the central locking stopped the doors being opened from the outside and not the inside. I have asked the question about child locks in a taxi and private hire vehicle before and the answer was that you can't use them. However certain council contracts state that they must be used. I brought this up at a council meeting and was told that motion locks should be used for such things.
