where do wedding cars come regards to plating, do any need a plate or are they exempt?

can i, as a plated and ops licenced PH also run an unplated wedding car?

They are exempt and yes you can run them.

Your other licences are irrelvant, wedding cars are exempt full stop.

But as long as they're used only for weddings. If you use them for anything else then the exemption doesn't apply, even if it's a one off job and the vehicle is normally used only for weddings.

I think the wording is something like "in connection with any wedding" This has also been used by some people to do hen nights, stag nights, airport transfers for the honeymoon.

Saving for certain vehicles etc..

(1)Nothing in this Part of this Act shall— .

(a)apply to a vehicle used for bringing passengers or goods within a controlled district in pursuance of a contract for the hire of the vehicle made outside the district if the vehicle is not made available for hire within the district; .

(b)F1. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

(c)apply to a vehicle while it is being used in connection with a funeral or a vehicle used wholly or mainly, by a person carrying on the business of a funeral director, for the purpose of funerals; .

[F2(cc)apply to a vehicle while it is being used in connection with a wedding;] .

(d)require the display of any plate, disc or notice in or on any private hire vehicle licensed by a council under this Part of this Act during such period that such vehicle is used for carrying passengers for hire or reward—

Yes...any body could.

Finding a Wedding car vehicle Insurance with Public Liability thrown in might be difficult...I looked into it and did not find any Insurers that would offer a decent priced policy, they wanted to pigeon hole it as Chauffeur drive insurance and charge between £3000/£4000..Just crazy money.

And then theres the Tax man...he'd want a cut out of it to.

When I had a rolls royce for weddings, it was insured as a cherished vehicle with wedding cover. It was around £300 for the year fully comp.

If i had a TX2/3/4 in white as a wedding novelty car could my LA object it wasnt plated hackney?...
