Some on here are sounding just like out and out Conservatives!!
Why shouldn't these guys be on the money that they are, as I am sure that the company that they work for are also making masses of money.
For years, companies up and down the land have been making not just profit, but VULGAR profit. What do we see off of the backs of all of that................Wage reductions/restraint/minimum wage/ and people generally struggling, all except the wealthy bosses.
To my way of thinking is that we need from time to time the conflict of the 1970s (I do not belong to a Trade Union) - Unions not under the thumb of governments, but Unions who can and will fight for the living standards of their members. Sadly too many unions have been bought off by successive governments who keep them sweet with large grants.
Imagine the situation whereby the work force up and down the U.K received wages that were decent.....................WE would also get a decent living - Or have you forgotten that their low wage - is also our LOW wage. I would say, do not be jealous - encourage! because if you do not - a rickshaw awaits you all.
Ok lets look at it the simple way shall we?
Over the last year or so 90% of the fuel tanker fleet has been taken over by Wincanton Distribution, garages like TOTAL, ESSO, JET, TEXACO all use Wincanton, TOTAL have been known to use Turners from Soham as a back up.
When the drivers were transfered over to Wincanton they went with the T.U.P.E agreement, this agreement protects the workers wages, holidays, sick pay, health insurance etc etc.
Wincanton are well known to detest the T.U.P.E agreement which like I mentioned above protects the employees rights and benefits.
If you were in a PAYE job and earning £40K a year with benefits like sick pay, health insurance, decent holidays and all of a sudden some halfwhit company came along and tried to get round the T.U.P.E agreement and start cutting away at your benefits which you've trained hard for you'd be pretty p
issed off like the Tanker drivers are.
It's not all about wages, it's about Wincanton cutting not only the tanker drivers benefits but that of many other Wincanton drivers in food destribution depots across the UK.
If your that p
issed off with the tanker drivers training hard and going on courses to transport hazardous chemicals to the forecourts of the petrol stations why don't you go out there and get your class one LGV then apply to go on the hazardous chemicals course? The price of the above will be around the £12K mark, that's if you make it past your LGV class 2 which you've got to pass before you even think about driving a class 1.
