Taxi Driver Online

That some licensing officers, in a northern licensing district, have been suspended for allegedly taking bribes. According to the rumour to allow less than 'fit and proper' people to be licensed.

Anyone know anything more?

I heard the same nasty rumour.....and I think the council concerned better make a statement sooner rather than later. I also heard there's 2 councils involved.

I suspect that we don't want TDO sued for all it's worth.

That said, if the Captain and the Sussex say they have heard a rumour I feel it's safe to say it's fact and they are just waiting for the press to catch up.

We had a similar incident here although it didn't involve bribes it was more fingers in the till. The officer concerned was not sacked but merely transferred to another department. Our licence department is no longer able to take cash payments for licences.

The trade association in the borough concerned were alerted to the fact that a lot of Turkish driver's started hiring cabs at or around the same time. This started the ball rolling, inquiries are continuing, two men have been suspended on full pay.

Anyone who reads the Andersonshelter.blogspot, will know that the same thing has happended in London, a large number of Somali drivers have appeared on rented cabs all at the same time. Last sat/sun at 3.30am four were arrested on Putney Bridge rank. 3 with cloned badges, 1 without anything.

It has been obvious for some time that this is also happening in Manchester.

It's happening in every major city in the UK tbh.

That was to to the MRS Skippy express, Skoda Superb 100% better lighting than standard, this was taken at 60MPH
