If this panic had happened this week coming most of the staff at the refinerys would be on holiday for the Easter weekend

how far offshore is the oil rig nearest Scotland?

Did the Scots explore/drill for the oil?

just cos they can SEE a rig dont make it thier oil, and if they wanted it why didnt they go and get it?...

All within our territorial waters.

Irrelevant. Did the Saudis explore/drill for theirs? Or anyone else for that matter?

As for wanting to possess all they can see and using others to get it, wasn't that how England built their empire?

Try overlaying the territorial waters and you might just find out. :D
Also try showing only oil fields.

Same thing is true of the Argies as well, and looking at that map it looks like Norway might be kicking up soon as well.

Norway has had no problems with the territorial boundaries in the last 40 years, why would they have one now?

Wannabee's point is mute. What will be Scottish waters upon independence, are UK waters at the moment.
If Scotland has no right to the revenues when independent, the same would be true of the UK today and for the last 40 years.
Perhaps he feels the UK government should return all the oil revenues it has thus far collected?

I thought that a countries territorial waters went out 12 miles. The oil that is being taken from the north sea would, I guess, be owned by the company that owns the platform. The tax from that oil would, I guess, be paid to the country where the company is registered.

And I guess all those foreign registered companies have contributed a trillion pounds to the UK Exchequer out of the goodness of their corporate hearts. #-o

How are those Northern Rock shares doing BTW?

That's a lot of guessing, do we have any evidence to support either argument?

Hasn't Northern Rock been bought by Sir Richard?
