I would be paying for tap water, whether I used it or not.
There is no "cost free" option, as not having any water supply at all, is no option.

No it wasn't it was bottled water.

Bottle water is crap so I I winna pay for it

Your choice but it was just a comparison of prices, gusmac made out that he never paid for his water when clearly he does. The comparison however was between the price of bottled water in the Uk and Norway

surely the headline should read 'The SNP want Scotland to be the most expensive place to live in Europe'

Moreover it should read 'The SNP want out of the Uk and they don't care what it costs'

Ok, so having paid water charges so I can flush the bog and have a bath, how much extra do I pay for a litre of water from my kitchen tap toots?
Having paid for a litre of diesel to drive your car, how much does it cost you for the hot air that heats the inside of your car toots?
I'll give you a clue, it's the same amount in both cases.

Toots are you going to answer any of this, or are you just going to continue comparing apples with oranges, changing to lemons when it suits you?
You and CC like asking questions, but neither of you answer any.

Now, you put that as if the higher cost of living outweighs their higher wages.
Is that true or is that just an assumption on your part?

Why do things cost more in Norway?
Do you know? or are you just assuming the same would happen here?

Someone pointed out that a pint of beer in Norway would cost £6.
How much would a pint cost here if the price had increased at the same rate as cigarettes over the last 20 years?

I talk to Norwegians regularly, since we get quite a few of them through here due to the oil industry.
They all like coming to Scotland, because the prices are cheaper and they drink here like the Brits do in the Spanish Costas.
None of them would live here though because, on balance, their overall standard of living is much better at home.

Do you get many Norwegians in Carlisle or Birkenhead?

Clearly since you appear obsessed with tap water the comparison should have been made between water rates in each country, but, I not having a water meter you're quite right it doesn't cost me anymore whether I drink the tap water or not. In fact I'd be hard pressed to say how much I pay for the water because it's all included in my rent along with all other utility bills

As I said I think the point being made was that although the wages are higher in Norway things cost more. As to whether that improves the standard of living I haven't got a clue because I've never lived in Norway and I don't really know what it's like there but I'm sure if you know you will tell me

I can't answer for Carlisle but yeah in Birkenhead we get some, we used to get a lot more, we have docks don't you know

What makes it better? Is it better for everybody or just those that are employed?

Don't bother answering this as I've found an answer myself

Quote:
For the last four years the United Nations (UN) has ranked Norway as having the highest standard of living in the world. This annual ranking is based largely on average levels of education and income, combined with expected length of lifetime, but also factors like human rights and cultural freedom. Norway is weighed high for its high literacy rate in addition to educational levels and material wealth.
