We will be likewise shafted by the Law Commission.

I will be amazed if the Law Commission doesn't, in part, mirror the Northern Ireland new act.

When I posted earlier that I believed the press were trying to present the Hackney trade in Belfast in a bad light, I think the official news differs greatly from the sensation press coverage.

Of these 163 checks, 28 (17.2%) resulted in a prosecution notice.

• Approaching one fifth (19.7%) of the 659 taxis checked had a roadworthiness defect that resulted in a prosecution notice, fixed penalty notice or prohibition notice, most commonly for ‘Wheels and Tyres’ or ‘Lights and Signals’.

• Just under one in six (15.6%) of the 659 taxis checked had a committed a traffic offence that resulted in a prosecution notice, fixed penalty notice or prohibition notice, most commonly for ‘Fire Extinguisher’ or ‘Taxi Roof Sign’.

• A further 177 vehicles (26.9%) received a verbal warning.

WOW! adding those percentages together make 79.4% of vehicles failing to comply fully.

I agree.....hidden agenda, strange how this news is coming out now?

the following is stated on the DOE website;

This does not mark a real change from the rates seen in previous surveys in 2007 and 2009.
