the whole data system crashed on us from friday 2pm,,,at about 7 pm the management decided to go to voice for job despatch,,can you imagine the bedlum trying to cover jobs in over 100 plots / ranks...what a nightmare. system back up and running at 2am sat morning,,so over 600 odd drivers lost their friday night including me,,and today is no better as last nights hires probably called other firms today due to the fiasco yesterday. cant win can we,,and goes to show the unpredictable nature of despatch systems i guess.

Systems crash, they have problems. Its something that you have too live with. The system going doing was (in this case) not the managemnets fault and it was not something that could be forseen by them.

Last Friday/Saturday "A Cars" was back to voice dispatch for over 12hours.

A few weeks prior too that due to a fault at a remote site, at least 6 companies had systems down and this included companies on voice.

What you have to look at is the amount of time that the system is actually up and running.

You were looking at moving to another company, they operate the exact same system and with the fault that I was told about, they would have went down the same way.

I know that an engineer was called out on Friday by the company and that he arrived on site on Friday/Sat and resolved the issue, what else can anyone ask for.

ofcourse radioman,,,but maybe you slightly misinterpreted the gist of my post here. With all due respect,,i was really cursing good old bad luck in this case. I mean it wouldnt be too bad if it went down any other day,,but fridays ,,lol,,,it sucked allright,,some of us only go out fri sat sun,,so kinda ruined it,,as for voice,,the operators did a great job under the circumstances,,,,but going by the size of gph,,there was never any chance they would have managed to cover those jobs from 114 plots on voice with one channel,,,,cheers.

Hi
I know what your saying. Its always the case with systems having issues on the busy nights.

I deal with a lot of companies having various issues. It all depends if they want too call or not. I usually know when something major has failed at remote sites etc as I get numerous phone calls from various companies.

I also dont mind helping others out when they acutally call.

for once in my life john I was being serious. IF our system went down we can only have a remote engineer if it needs owt else we have to go to them.

my request was a sign of respect for you

sorry you could take it any other way

well since your being serious I will say sorry to you Yorkie. I know the cab industry is 24/7 and I also know that "sods law" states that if anything is going to go wrong then it will go wrong at the busy times and normally when there is no one around to help.
