It also took the NTA 9 pages to say no, lol it seems the NWTA and the NTA at last have something in common.
There are many knowledgable and dedicated people in the NWTA, I have no doubt of that.
However, my general feeling is that perhaps the main people behind it were a little unsure of the NTA, I additionally think that there was a degree of ill feeling which goes back many years.
I dont think that the Reiver did the NTA any favours in his (or her) column in taxitalk, unfortunately the points raised in the column have proved to be correct.
Although, I would suggest that some are starting to look towards the NTA's developed position of justification.
Without being over dramatic, people dont seem to have really picked up on what a change in position the justification line has been. For years the NTA & old NFTA have stated a line of No, the recent press release was a major movement. I suggest that in trade terms it is as dramatic as the British government announcing no strategic interest in Northern Ireland.
As for how the NTA are developing, there is a movement towards younger faces and ideas, whilst it is obviously good for the NTA, I would suggest it is good for the trade as a whole.
Getting back to the original question, the NTA's response was in my opinion an excellent response at the time, which even drew plaudits and raised eyebrows from the NWTA. I dont wish to say who's response was better than the others, not for me to decide (beside's im biased

)
As for M&R, it is a good document that is countering everything the profession stated, although I suggest it was set out to do that.
