An out of town Hackney Carriage dropped a passenger at Lincoln station today. There's an ASLEF drivers strike on with Central trains, so Stagecoach have a bus replacement service on. The buses have taken over the station taxi rank, so there were no other cabs on the station, but the (free

) st Mary street rank is adjacent to the station, so I could easily see the out of towners activities.
He'd dropped off, so i was wondering why he was still lurking on the station for so long. He got out, and went into the station, and came out again, and got into his cab. Just about to drive off, when a woman approached him, and he got out and opened a door for her.
I went over to him at this stage and asked him was he seriously going to take the fare?
He told me "It's a booking" (ffs)
I asked the lady who told me it was not.
I advised her to get out, and I would take her to a legal taxi over on the street.
I advised the driver to return to his own manor, and that I had noted his badge and plate number, and that I would be reporting him for illegally plying for hire, which I have done.
Do I think my licensing department, or his, will do anything? Well let us see.
The passenger had never been to Lincoln before, and the very naughty driver would never have found the intended destination as long as he has a hole in his arse.
A £6 fare. Worth risking your badge over? NO. Will I sleep soundly tonight? Oh, YES.
