Its got everything to do with the world we live in brother!! If you'd never cashed in on them, You would have been a cartel operating multi plate baron.

Think of that rental income you'd been receiving, the power you would have had hiring and firing drivers...

Oh skull, I bet you wish you'd never sold them.

What don't you understand about the taxi trade being FU*KED? #-o

The drivers and owners I know all want out. The recession and cost of running a taxi is killing any income, making the job hardly worth your while. Not to mention the ridiculous hours you have to work just to stand still. #-o

You see that's the problem with guys like you 187ums, you live in a fairytale world, of being a businessman when you're just a daft wee cabby. #-o

Maybe so, however imagine how much less your suffering would have been if you were still a cartel operating multi plate baron.

You'd be relaxed, that's where you'd be, seeing the cash rolling in, you're the could have been businessman mate!

I don't think. I leave these dreams of grandeur to the likes of you, 187ums. I wouldn't drive a taxi again, supposing my life depended on it. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

You wouldn't drive a taxi again skull, yet you spend countless hours on a taxi forum berating & insulting the guys who do the job.

You don't want anything to do with the taxi trade but can't stay away from it

Someone sounds bitter & twisted to me

On the contrary, I've hardly made a post for weeks other than the last few days. I now only post if something interests me or assholes like you need a reality check.

I'm guessing you came into the trade and maybe drove for a friend or perhaps a relative who filled your head with [edited by admin]. And then you bought in, taking on his program of shi*e instead of thinking for yourself.

Everything, Jim and I said about your trade is true, and now your trade is [edited by admin].

I hate to say it, but we...

There are a few moaners from the "good old days" left in Ayr as well, Skull, not all of them that old, either.

Nothing is as good as it was. None of us will ever be as rich as you are, from the easy takings that you made whenever it was that you were in your prime.

However, be that as it may, many of us are making a half decent living out of driving Hacks and PCs and trying to make even more. So why not spare us the comparisons and be constructive for once.

Eddie

What you chose is now irrelevant. Your boats are burned. Who burned them matters not. There is no going back.
A bit like suicide really. Once you choose to end it all and carry out the act, it's too late to change your mind.

No, Gusmac you are missing the point. I burned my boats with the very purpose in mind of never going back. I could see the writing on the wall, enough was enough. There was no changing my mind.

My constructive prediction for the tax trade in Edinburgh:

The recession is now turning into depression and is far from over. The economy is flat lining while unemployment is on the increase, and with Europe teetering on the brink, there's more bad news to come.

The Hack trade in Edinburgh, will not recover to any great degree as they will be overran by Ph, by around 2020. Even if the economy does pick up, sooner than expected, I doubt the hacks will feel the benefit, as any increase will be sucked away by the growing competition.

The taxi trade as a viable source of income with good working conditions and hours, is finished.

What's happening now was all predicted at least 10 years ago, when I was a taxi owner and driver? The small minded greedy grasping mentality of your average dim-witted taxi driver, has destroyed what could have been, a great industry to work in.

Actually it is you who is missing my point. You don't have the option of driving a taxi.
How you got there is irrelevant, as is how you feel about it.
Fact is you can't, whether you want to or not.

The choice you made was to deny yourself the choice of changing your mind.

Yes, and it was my decision to deny myself the option of driving a taxi.

The relevance, of the situation was based on my decision of the matter in hand, as was how I felt about it.

The fact is, if I wanted to drive a taxi all I would have to do is reapply.

That is exactly right.

Anyhoo Gusmac do you agree with my prediction?
