TDO doesn't seem to have a problem with local associations putting stuff up on here, so put up what you want.

In relation to your council thinking the LC's report is law, well are you shocked? :?

No not really tbh but at least we are getting organised in our area properly at last.
we are fighting a few things with em at the mo and it looks like they have bitten off more than they can chew,
they are even being investigated by the chief executives complaints manager after we had a meeting with him
should be fun hopefully

I think there's a bit of leg-pulling going on here - read the actual letter here:

If that is an actual letter sent out by someone who is advising the council, I would sack him. The number of mistakes in the article is rediculous.

Noticed that as well Grandad, but gave the writer the benefit of the doubt and assumed that the contents of the letter had been transposed to the website and maybe some of the original was lost in the translation.

But, more to the point, the letter certainly didn't claim that the council in question was treating the LC's proposals as law. Or even gospel.

that is indeed verbatim mistakes and all, and he did in fact say we need to read the 'consolation' paper what a joker.
Well we are having a meeting friday with licensing and their advisor, and then we will rip em to pieces over this cos he is using this as an example yet the paper hadn't even been published when they carried out their inspection in march.
And the reason all of the drivers bar one got suspensions/deferred suspensions was because this guy decided it was now law that we all have to have 2kg foam extinguishers not the 1kg dry powder we have always had in addition he was recommending suspensions due to out of date first aid kits without even looking inside them he thinks he is a law unto himself as does our licensing officer

Well given the reaction from most on here I suspect 'consolation' paper is quite appropriate

Pity that's not covered in the consultation, because clearly that's the kind of detail people like Mr Casey would like to see. :D

So it would be a thousand pages and several hundred questions, and no doubt those who wanted a three year consultation period would want it extended to ten years or so.

And of course you shouldn't complain about hundreds of local authorities having different rules on things like 1kg dry powder v 2kg foam fire extinguishers for cabs, because it's that kind of 'localism' that's so good for our democracy

Ask him for a copy of the minute's from the council meeting that made the change of condition regarding fire extinguishers.... and then ask him...... why the fire brigade strongly advise all drivers to get quickly away from a vehicle that is on fire..... and then ask him does he expect you to actually use the fire extinguisher...... and is he not placing your lives in danger

hiya we have a meeting with him friday like i said and we have all the evidence including a letter from essex fire and rescue, who robinson says he is accredited with lol but they insist we get punters out and to a safe area.
Oh and heres a quote the L.O has slipped into the terms and conditions with no one noticing, for confusion sake i will state like the last one it is verbatim and copied from their web site "Thurrock Council may, at its discretion, waive, alter or add to any of the conditions,
standards or requirements", oh fun to be had soon lol.
