As i said before i dont work for a company, same as a lot of my fellow drivers we work the streets/ranks so those 100 phone calls dont make any difference but the 100 extra taxis do !

You have the same amount of drivers, the same overall amount of vehicles, the same ratio of work....yet all of a sudden no one can make a living? Interesting logic.

PH pay an operator for there work....a HC doesnt and shouldnt have too.

I would have hoped even you could see beyond this blinkered view, phone work and rank work is different ?

In your little dream of a one tier system, how would you envisage this to work all over the country ? Where would all this rank space come from ? What about places like blackpool where the influx of visitors makes most of the work seasonal ?

Any increase in taxis would come from the PH sector, or taxi journeymen.

Taxi journeymen are already working so unless they can drive two cabs at a time it shouldn't make any difference.

In respect of PH, where do you think they go/sit/wait when they don't have punters in? Is there some kind of different dimension where they go/sit/wait, and then appear from the ether when they have a job?

If a one-tier happened, and I doubt it will, ex PH will still keep their customers, and help out their new colleagues from the taxi trade, and maybe teach them a few lessons on how not to lose punters.

The mere fact they do is evidence that the HC trade have lost so much work to people offering a better service.

What's so strange is that the Law Commission want to change the good guys and leave the failures to carry on as they are. :-k

Even I am fully aware of the differences    (I have worked both over the years)

The argument still remains, its just I don't buy YOUR conspiracy that all of a sudden the drivers that were doing radio work, would sudden hand their radios back to sit 100 turn on a town center rank.

Dont know about where you live but ph/minicab usuall plot or sit in areas they are likely to find work. They are usually on mixed fleets hackney and ph.As for the town centre /seafront they wouldnt get that much as its being serviced by hackneys.Which is where i get the vast majority of my work .As i said before i dont want to work on a company but the way your thinking thats all there will be .You think thats the way forward ? Maybe for you, not me

Clearly you can't comprehend there is no change, a PH now a HAC will still service their phone customers. IE not sat on YOUR rank...

Depending on which day of the week it is we usually have two tales.

1) All the new taxis (old PH) will hand in their radios and go independent.

2) All the independent taxis will have to join circuits and pay radio rent.

And sometimes we get these two tales.

1) All the new taxis will head for the centre leaving the outskirts without a service. I mean it makes perfect sense to sit around the centre earning f*** all when you have punters by the bucket load waiting on the outskirts. When I say perfect sense, I mean for those the LC deem as failures.

2) All the new taxis will just work the busy times leaving large chunks of the week without a service. Similar to the above, it makes perfect sense to sit around with loads more taxis earning f*** all when you have punters by the bucket load waiting during the week. When I say perfect sense, I mean for those the LC deem as failures.

Yes and you keep making very large suppositions that all PH will hand their radios back. So all the PH are happy to now not earn a living sat 100th turn behind you and your chums....because....that 1 job every three hour is FREE!

Seriously, you need to come up with a more convincing argument.

I'd hardly call the PH in Blackpool good guys.....the PH fleets are run by millionaires, who chanrge low fares to gain more custom....of course they dont give a sh*t about the low fares because they dont run the vehicles.......and they've managed to start companies from outside of the area so they invariably use out of town hacks and PH to cover work.....Blackpool BC are a pretty useless shower and cant actually cope.
