the above aside, I actually think having an act that can encompass horses, bkies and cars and cabs isnt a bad thing.

Would you like to include "pedestrian" in case someone wants to lead passengers by the hand on Shanks Pony?

?

I think anyone being paid to carry people for hire and reward should be included.

I agree it was after 1985, but an omnibus is a bus, and in the 1985 act any bus must have an engine.

I'm guessing they missed that bit.

What About an electrically driven bus, No Engine just an Electric Motor?

That, Bloodnock, would be an electric engine.

Motor and Engine are two words for the same thing.

For example "My boat has an engine" is the same as "My boat has a motor".

An engine is often shortened to "Gin", as in "Cotton Gin" or "Gin Trap" - in the case of the Gin Trap there is no fuel as such, just a spring under tension. It is however still an engine.

I am equally happy to say "Electric Motor" or "Electric Engine" and if you want I will go with motor. However in the 1985 act any bus must have an engine would be construed to accept that the engine could be fuelled by electricity.

The only thing that saddens me is "I have an engine, but currently no boat to put it in."
