The Russian team looked very good yesterday.

The must be a semi-final sure thing on that form.

The first game counts for little often teams that start well fade badly and teams that start poorly get going in the later stages

Well England usually does the latter, so how long does a tournament have to last before we get going in the latter stages?

and into the netted area

But not into the net as stated in your original post.
In fact there is nothing in the laws of the game that states that there must be a net attached to the goal. The law just states that a net may be used provided that it does not interfere with the goalkeeper.

Ffs so being so bloody pedantic

I was a referee for 15 years that qualifies me to be pedantic.

theres a chap lives in my street who has to be a bit careful where he drinks cos he's a premiership linesman he has done one or two internationals but doesn't seem to be a "first choice" for that but yes he has that "pedantic" quality

Anyway the results seem to be surprising quite a lot of the pundits spain only seemed to wake up after the Italian goal so at the moment I would say it could be anybody's tournament not seen anything so far to suggest any of the teams are playing particularly well

That is the difference between the group stages and the finals the easy to beat teams like Luxembourg, The faroe islands and Scotland are already eliminated

I could put my pedantic head on again and point out that there are no such things as linesmen anymore. They are assistant referees.
Being an assistant referee on the premiership would also mean that he is probably a referee on the football league.

Did I also mention that my mum was German.
The people who know Efff all about football are the TV pundits. Even the ones that have played the game. Referees, unfortunatly at the higher levels, are "told" what they must do in certain circumstances. Even at senior County level where I refereed we were given instructions from FIFA at the start of the season informing us of some of the things that we were required to give red and yellow cards for. If you didn't comply with the instructions you would soon find yourself off of the league list.

No he only ever runs the line even when he drops down a division or two he just doesn't want it he's had his day at wembley (charity shield) but prefers to not be the one in the middle handling the pressure

meanwhile back to the tournament and isn't it nice to have a manager in charge who has ditched some of the prima donnas and put a TEAM out for once i could watch and not be half expecting a thrashing not as exciting to watch but teams win tournaments ! The germans have known this for years thats why thet are so successful so I personally think that we are going the right way what we lack in creativity we are making up for with good organisation
