Carry a few ASDA bags and if you get someone who pisses in your car cut two leg holes out of the bag and whala instant incontinent knickers.

No, I'd just refuse to pick her up.

It would be a bit late for that after it has happened.

£100 r u real grandad ,I am not saying £100 is not deserved but have you ever got £100 ?

I have never needed to. I did once get the soiling charge when it was £80. Wehave quite big signs in the cars that state what the soiling charge is and usually when a passenger is feeling ill they will have seen the sign and ask you to stop. Obviously if someone is going to pee themselves they probably wont tell you. We are a small town and if one driver has had the problem, within minutes all the drivers know and the person is not picked up again.

And the person who is to need this is going to ask you for a bag are they? Or do you ask all your passengers to wear the bag, just in case?

So what do you do if this occurs after 7pm?

More to the point, do you think this firm is wrong to refuse her business?

ASDA bags aren't all that big, and they have little holes in them

The car would be taken off the road. As it happens we have all the neccesary cleaning equipment in our garage. So we would have the vehicle immediatly cleaned. Obviously the seats would still be a bit damp so we would not use the vehicle until they were dry, usually a good 12 hours. If it is urgent to get the vehicle out again as soon as possible we have a very good heater, a bit like the hand driers in the pubs and we can use this to speed things up. We would never use the car until it was in a fit state to use. If it happened to one of our drivers and there was no spare car available for them to carry on the shift, I would let them have my car and I would be the one having the night off.
As for the company refusing the business, I would back them all the way.

We don't all have the back up you do.

I've got a wet/dry vacuum cleaner and spare seats for my Sharan. I would do my best to get the motor back out that night but I wouldn't use it if it still stank of p1$$.

The point I was making at the start of this threa was that the company concerned appeared to have several vehicles but still seemed to send the vehicle out soiled.

As the company said it was up to the drivers if they picked up, I assumed they were self employed and working a circuit.

Driver speaks out on Swansea taxi firm incontinence row

Tuesday, June 12, 2012

A Swansea taxi driver has stepped into the debate about a woman with incontinence blacklisted by a city firm.

Roy Wilkinson claimed the city woman, Susan Abraham, had twice had accidents in his car and that he was no longer prepared to take her.

Mr Wilkinson, of Gendros, contacted the Post after an article last week in which Mrs Abraham's dismayed daughter, Barbara Jones, said she and her mum had been left stranded in the city centre by Data Cabs after being blacklisted by the firm.

Miss Jones disputed the company's account that her mum had accidentally soiled one of its taxis on the way into the city, and felt they had been discriminated against.

Mr Wilkinson said Data Cabs drivers regularly took people with disability issues, referring in part to Mrs Abraham's use of, but not confinement to, a wheelchair.

"We do it with pride," he said.

"Ninety-five per cent of our vehicles are wheelchair accessible. We are a proud company."

He said he was one of many drivers who had taken Mrs Abraham on journeys when she lived in Fforestfach as well as her current home in Portmead Avenue, Blaenymaes.

Mr Wilkinson, who has worked as a Data Cabs driver for six years, claimed: "She (Mrs Abraham) has urinated in my taxi twice.

"I checked the back of the car. I didn't say anything, but I had to disinfect it as well as I could, and spray it with air fresheners.

"I have been offered the job (of taking her in his taxi) and I have refused over the last few months."

Data Cabs boss Terry Davies said last week that it was an awkward situation but confirmed Mrs Abraham had been blacklisted.

The Post put Mr Wilkinson's claims to Miss Jones, who looks after her mum.

She said: "I understand that, but he could have brought it to my attention.

"I didn't know they felt like that."

Miss Jones said her 58-year-old mum had carers in twice a day.

The 28-year-old, a mum herself, reported the blacklisting to Swansea Council's licensing department, which said it was looking into the matter.

The NHS said incontinence — the unintentional passing of urine — was a very common problem.

The crux issue is she did it and said nothing, how long before Miss Jones would get peed off if all the drivers relieved themselves through her letterbox I wonder,

Now there must be a solution to this, one I already posted about being prepared for the worst, but to continue thinking it's ok to cost a man his days work is ok no matter what,

I have every sympathy for the lady btw, but people in need of special handling won't get that in a cab unless the cabby knows the full risks and the story.

If the paper was happy allowing the daughter to make a song and dance about this wouldn't it have been better if the names hadn't been disclosed?

No, we don't all do that when we're drunk, naming no names of course

And in fairness to the lady she might not even know she's doing it.

A sad situation all round and not one that's easy to handle, but not well handled either by the daughter or the newspaper in my opinion.
