No I understand you Gus, the point I'm making is if the Arg twitched the RN would Belgrano anything sailing by way of Subs, if they flew in there are Typhoon's stationed there and a garrison of eager duck shooter's, and a rather tasty 45 to engage either, it's shored up this time so no need to reclaim it, trust me they wouldn't get within 200 miles of it undetected, and they know another aggresive act will be met with some ICBM's on their mainland, we aren't quite the lamers ppl think we are, ok man power is reduced but tech has made the arsenal 100 times more lethal than it was back then, Thatcher got all the planning wrong anyway, that's why we lost so many ships and ended up having to march across the Falklands, typical women thinking, had there been someone with a proper tactical brain at the time you might've been talking minimal troop casualties on both sides, but she being her had to wade in with two big boots instead of a covert guess what I'm doing next approach.
My brother has been in the mob since 79 and he was back there last year, so I know how well defended the place is.
The point is that's all down to the 82 invasion. Without it, defence would consist of a few locals with shotguns.
The govt really got caught with their pants down last time and it was a much closer run thing than most people realise.
There are other places around the world where similar could happen and I seriously wonder if they have adequate forces left to deter aggressors. Let's hope we don't have to find out the hard way.
BTW, I don't see any likelihood of nuclear warheads being deployed in a first strike against Argentina, or any other non nuclear power. They might threaten but they'd never do it. It would make the UK a bigger pariah than N Korea.
