Myth: Count calories to lose weight

‘Technically calories do count when it comes to keeping slim,’ says James. ‘The calories you put in (what you eat) versus calories out (how much you move around) determine weight loss or gain. However, in reality, it’s a bit more complicated than that. Take, for example, salmon and avocado.’

Both foods are high in fat (the good, heart-healthy kind) and calories. An avocado contains 275 calories and a salmon steak contains around 170 calories (compared with around 90 in a cod fillet).

‘But you’ll never get fat eating avocado and salmon,’ says James. ‘For a start, they contain omega 3 fatty acids, which as well as being heart-friendly, also help your body to burn fat more efficiently.

‘And a low-calorie diet doesn’t necessarily mean a healthy diet. Plenty of low-calorie diets are made up of nutritionally-deficient foods such as bland cereal and processed, tinned food.

‘This type of diet will leave you sluggish, unable to concentrate and craving sugar. In time, this can set up a binge/diet cycle that ruins your metabolism.’

James’s advice? ‘Just eat nutritious, wholesome foods that are as unprocessed as possible and forget about how many calories they contain.’

WRONG!!!!

Go back to school, no wonder you are just a cabby. :-$

Don't know what school you went to, but mine taught me never to presume anything. And also, when accusing someone of being wrong, you must back your statement up with WHY they are wrong or risk looking a bigger fool yourself. Now away you go and plagiarise some more content off the internet in an attempt to save your sorry face a bit quicker than 4 hours next time.

4 Hours, I replied when I saw it, do you think you are that special I'm going to monitor the thread 24/7 just incase you reply to it

And I don't need to back anything up, lets have a grand on it I'm right and you're wrong, lets go to the medical profession and ask if anyone overweight is simply an over eating pig or not?

but mine taught me never to presume anything

Every fatty out there is an over-eater. Fact. No presumtion about it. Granted, some folk put on weight a heck of a lot easier than others for various medical reasons but none of those conditions generates fat from thin-air.

The medical proffession's answer accross the board is unanimous. Eat less to loose weight. A clear answer to the inital cause - eating more than is required for your lifestyle.

As much as i'd love to take your money, people who make bets they can't win with stangers online, would be better off buying more cake with their hard earned cash and deleting themselves earlier from the gene pool.

95% of people that let themselves get overweight or obese have the ability to prevent or do something about it, whether they have slow metabolisms or not.
The figure for those that cannot help it due to a condition is less than 1%
