hi all,
new guy here who doesnt know too much in regards to private hire licensing but is hoping to gain a license to earn some income.

Basically i've seen an advert from a private hire firm asking for drivers with a badge from 2 authorities, and if you havent got a badge they will pay for your badge but from an authority next to the one they are situated in.

I thought that the firm, car and driver had to be registered with the same authority? If so, how are they trying to get around this?

Because no-one can be bothered to enforce the law, and the Law Commission are in the process of making it legal anyway.

Legalise the cross-border shenanigans.

Let's face it, if you can't beat them, then join them, seems to be the motto.

Or in this case legalise them.

Make cross border legal. Any licensed vehicle will be able to work anywhere with anyone.

No it wasn't mate, i debt want to say too much about the area incase it jeopardizes any opportunities for work.

I can see why they will pay for badges from the county next door - no knowledge test, cost is around £40 cheaper than the one in which they are based. I just didnt think it was something the authorities would let happen or not prosecute for

I have asked my local authorities if my current licence entitlement (class 1 lorry) which are more stringent! But no sir you have to do it all!

Your vehicle and driver's license must be issued by the same council, and if you drive a PH you must have an operator's license as well, or work with an operator, licensed in the same area.
