Skull, I watched the video wae’ the Icelandic woman. Very articulate she was too. However, she spoke about people who asked her & the 3 lawyers etc, to represent their views to Parliment. Is that not what the Democratically elected reps are meant to do anyway ?. Plus, Iceland are affected by the Global economy, the same as any other Country, are they not ?. Do they somehow not rely on European & International trade ?. My point is, it disnae’ matter how Democratic, transparent, or whatever.... You will always be a wee unhappy man... shame..

Fairplay, as usual you are showing your ignorance, which you seem to have in abundance. It must be a Niddry thing because you wallow in it so well. I read books. I watch documentaries, and I pay attention to world affairs, which interest me. It makes me happy. :D

The Icelandic people were involved in electing people to write their constitution, after they had the bankers arrested and thrown out the country. They are running their political process, which is more than can be said, for the sheeple of Scotland, who don't really have a vote, and have little or no idea how the system works.

This may come as a shock, but I am all for an Independent Scotland but with a written constitution, and a government which is open for public scrutiny. I don't want another wealthy boy's club with their political class puppets running the place. [-X

Unfortunately, when it comes to ignorance, sheeple like you, Fairplay, are so stupid, you don't even know when we are on the same side. And the sad thing is, you don't feel embarrassed. #-o The system has done a real job on you. I suppose, I should feel sorry and embarrassed for you. #-o

If the Scottish people want Independence, they are not asking for it, they are taking it, for themselves. As I said before, we don't need anyone's permission, any more than the people of Iceland.

There is nothing stopping Scotland doing exactly the same as Iceland.

Do you think David Cameron, is going to put troops on the streets, to deny Scotland Independence, and a constitution written by the common people, if that's what we want?

You don't truly believe the shi*e you are talking now, do you? #-o

I think of it as more of a velvet slipper than a boot, but don't kid yourself, the foot inside is still the same.
Civil unrest, riots, insurection, breakdown of democratic institutions etc would give Westminster just the excuse needed to impose direct rule and reign in those troublesome jocks.

People like you and people like me would be considered dangerous and might even find ourselves interned "for the good of the people"

You said yourself that Iceland needed independence to do what it did. They achieved it through the ballot box.
What happened later would not have happened if they had chosen your way. They would simply have been crushed.

Your the one talking sh*te skull. In fact I think your making it up as you go along.

You live in an SNP, contrived fantasy world Gusmac.

Quote:
You said yourself that Iceland needed independence to do what it did.

And where did I say that?

I think it was Nelson Mandela that said: it wasn't my mission to free the black man from the white man. My mission was to free the black man from the belief, that he wasn't already free.

Gusmac, the enemy is within. The Scottish people aren't freeing themselves form anyone and they don't need to ask permission to leave the union from Westminster.

The truth is, Alec Salmond and the SNP, don't want an Icelandic model of Government because it doesn't serve their interest. They would rather point to an English bogeyman stealing Scotland's oil wealth to shoehorn themselves into a position of power, to serve their interests through their chums in the over privileged boys' club.

Alec Salmond doesn't want a real democracy. Where politicians are held directly accountable to their electorate, any more than David Cameron.

Dream on Gusmac, dream on...

Making it up, and this coming from the man who "knows how the world works." #-o #-o #-o #-o

I've said it before skull and I'll say it again

YOU LIVE IN A FANTASY WORLD.
A WORLD WHERE SKULL IS RIGHT AND EVERYONE ELSE IS DELUDED.

In short, your a fruitcake.
Keep taking the pills mate, they'll help eventually.

Yes or no will do.

NO.

Now I'm done debating with someone who changes his mind more often than he changes his socks.
No doubt you will tell me I misunderstood you and, in your delusional mind, you will probably believe it to.
Do us all a favour and don't bother. Instead, take the time to get some good psychiatric help.

Saor Alba Skull.

Not like you to take my response out of context, but I am big enough to say. I caused the misunderstanding.

Quote:
NO. Gusmac, this is like a history lesson the people of Iceland played no part in. It's irrelevant. Iceland's new democratic model happened as a consequence of socioeconomic collapse. An educated public said enough was a enough and took control. A public I may add, for the most part, weren't even born between the years of 1918 and 1944. Independence played no part in their new democratic model, but a knowledgeable public did.

You don't have an argument to put forward for Independence, anymore than you understand how the real world works.

I tell you the truth, and you come back with shi*e, one could say, you are a typical SNP, supporter.

The auld enemy, "colonial control, troops on the streets", grow up for feck sake, it's all in your fu*king mind. #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o

I have a better idea how it works that you do, clearly. Your the one chopping and changing your mind to suit whichever delusional state you happen to be in.

You tell me what you THINK is the truth Skull. THINK being the operative term.
Perhaps it's time that you opened your mind to the possibility that you might actually be wrong and there is more to all this than just the gospel according to Skull.

Are you really naive enough to believe the UK government wouldn't step in to restore order in a part of what they claim is their own country? If people like you were stupid enough to give them an excuse?
They did it in Ireland when the stakes were far lower than they are in Scotland, and carried it on for 25 years in the face of world condemnation.
What did they have to gain then? The undying loyalty of some orangemen and a country which was falling apart at the seems?
They've fought questionable or illegal wars everywhere from the Falklands to Iraq, Afghanistan to Libya over oil. Maybe Iran next.
You imagine they wouldn't risk a little international outrage to keep control of 90% of their domestic oil supply?

Naive and delusional. #-o

And you think I don't know how the world works. #-o

No idea, I've never read it, nor any other parties manefestos in the last 20 years.

I know I've told you this before but it's worth repeating

I'M NOT A MEMBER OF THE SNP, Nor have I been since 1992.

So you like the sound, of the word, Independence, but have no real idea what it will mean, if you get it? You just want Independence because, it sounds like a good idea.

Would you say, I'm being fair in my assumption or would you care to elaborate? :-|

So you don't know why you are voting for Independence.

Alec Salmond and the SNP, are trying to sell the nation Independence, and you haven't even read their manifesto. You want Independence, you don't know why you want it. You just do. And you have absolutely no idea what it will mean if you get it. #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o

Well, Gusmac, I can see you've really thought this through. Certainly, no one could accuse you of being thick or ignorant and not living in the real world. #-o

Are all Independence supporters as well informed as you? #-o

Let me help you Gusmac, what you are voting for if you vote for Independence, is an SNP, vision of what independence might be. Their constitution reads like something out of Alice and Wonderland. It doesn't really mean anything in real terms. This is not a constitution written by the people of Scotland that political parties are sworn to follow, but a Scottish Tory's version of what will be, if you are lucky.

Transparency of Government, public scrutiny, direct accountability, is all missing from their manifesto.

Essentially, you are voting in another polyarchy, an elected dictatorship whose interests are served by a wealthy elite. There is no promise of a political mechanism making politicians directly accountable, to their electorate. No matter how incompetent they are, they won't lose their jobs.

Gusmac, you are proposing to hand Alec Salmond a blank cheque on the promise. He's a good guy.

Read their manifesto, if you don't believe me. :-|

Still we await an answer. Could it be that we humble sheeple do not deserve an answer?
Is the Skull so deluded that he sees no contradiction here?
