Mine have never froze, I use pure concentrated screen wash, it's never froze when it's hit the window, no nozzles might be frozen 1st thing but when the engine gets warmed up they aren't frozen anymore.

Water Nidge, water mate, anyway, I don't think he's done anything 1000's of motorists do every day when it's freezing, just got unlucky, plus she was elderly as well, no one has considered if she had one of those forgetful moments that you do and simply walked out too wide, if the screen was 100% blocked out of vision then it becomes another story, but I think this is a mix of dare I say it old lady vs drive on cos if I don't I will lose money regardless.

You can have boiling water in the bottle, it doesn't stop the pipes and nozzles freezing. The neat fluid works down to about -15C

Hot water freezes faster than cold water, hence why they use hot water in Zambonie machines on ice rinks all over the world.

These machines use hot water to melt the top layer of ice and smooth it before it refreezes.
Hot water does not freeze faster than cold water.

As for pipes and nozzles thawing out with engine heat, yes they do but with a diesel engine and an outside temperature of below -10C (very common up here in winter) they take ages to thaw. Also the bonnet insulation shields them from the heat of the engine

BTW the coldest night I've seen up here was -26C.

Mondeo's have it.

Been about on top models for years now, but as Gus and I mentioned the minute it leaves the bottle and pipes it will freeze on the screen unless it's got some red vodka in it.

Not just top models, my 1989 Scirroco has heated washer jets, so its not new!

They have, it's called concentrated screen wash.
Use it neat in freezing conditions.

I use it neat...but that in itself tends to leave a smeary residue on the window, there just is no easy way to keep your windscreen crystal clear on a slushy, salty, shltty, zub zero winters day...only way to keep it clean is not to use your vehicle in sh*tty winter weather.

The Trouble is windchill brought about through driving...it might be minus 10c ambient temp but windchill could through the vehicles motion could cause a temp of minus 40c at the Nozzles or at the winscreen....and then everything freezes.

The word "sometimes" is missing. Hot water can sometimes freeze faster than cold water but it depends on the conditions. I do not think that the conditions that are present on a cold frosty morning would actually make hot water freeze quicker than cold water.

Its odd you mention that...I once had an American lady on a run to the airport in sh*tty winter weather, she was convinced I was boozed up because of the reek of alcohol from the excessive use of washer fluid, She left the car still unconvinced
