Problem is Skull that that all sounds like a rehash of what you've been saying for the last decade or so, and while "they" may be no further forward I'm not so sure you and Jasbar are either.

Interesting way for Jasbar to go about trying to 'raise awareness' though, but unless he becomes the next Dan Brown, EL James or JK Rowling I'm not really sure if it's likely to be any more successful than the more direct approach, which of course has only had limited success thus far.

Look at what's been happening in Britain and around the world in the last few years. The socioeconomic and political landscape has completely changed, and there's a lot more to come. Personally, I don't give a [edited by admin] one way or the other. The taxi trade is on its arse, and I doubt it will improve in my lifetime. However, Jim and a few others are still in there plugging away and now there appears to be a change in the political will of the council. The word on the grapevine is, there are a lot of new faces, and no one can be ar*ed rehashing the past, and they want the present situation resolved.

As for Jim, it's an interesting story, a budding writer who can't get employment doing the job he is qualified to do, being forced to make money from writing about the very people who would deny him a living.

It wouldn't take a lot to give his story prominence. It is the capital, after all...

Came across this ad.

Taxi driver required dayshift 5 days friday-tuesday 04:00 -16:00
taxi is with city cabs
airport and waverley passes
new E7
£225 per week
c/o at the jewel

£55 per day shift, starting at a time which could only destroy your entire family life. Your weekends destroyed for any reasonable family contact. And you'd have to be in bed no later than the watershed to do this job safely.

Obviously this is an owner who is just throwing the crumbs to a serf.

I hope you're proud of yourself Dougie.

Where's the equality then? Where does it say that just because you train to be a licensed cabby you become worthless, you exist to be exploited by greedy owners?

WOMEN 'n' LOVE is an analogy for all equality issues.

The SNP government can't deny it. They are presiding over a wholly unequal society. Not something to be proud of. And not any model for independence.

OOPS!!!

Drive 100 miles, at 25p per mile that's another £25.

So, we're talking £70 a shift before a loaf of bread is on the table.

Of course, you're gonna make £180 a shift because there's so much work out there. And who cares that there's no holiday pay, sick pay, pension provision or unsocial hours payment =D>

As I said, the serf is being thrown the scraps from the owner's table, which he wouldn't consider devouring if he had a table of his own.

Look Jim, Longshanks was fully indoctrinated into the owner mindset by his father, uncle or maybe a family friend. He probably drove taxis for a few years and bought in. You know how it goes. Longshanks was a good little nigger who looked up to his owner and wanted to be just like massa. Don't you see, without qualified drivers being denied the tools of their trade, Longshanks, would cease to be a man of status? And the laugh is, he doesn't even own a plate, because it's public property.

Jim, you should feel sad for Longshanks. He simply lacks the brains to know any better. :-|

Hear what you say but I'm afraid I cant.

Because I feel sorry for ... ME!

And that's because his ignorance is bliss while I'm fully aware of my serf status.
