No that's not what I meant at all, people have to learn to speak English if it's not their 1st language before they can integrate

Ah, I do apologise, I thought the issue was about making it as easy as possible for people to become cab drivers - and thus further lowering earnings - rather than creating a cultural melting pot. :?

You appear to be quite cynical, do you really think that's what it's all about

Not really sure what you mean, but I thought the vast majority on here are always complaining about the amount of cab drivers - yourself included - so I'm not really sure what LAs helping the process along brings to the party.

I don't complain about the amount of drivers I suggest that de-restriction doesn't work as per the plan and there isn't enough work for the drivers, usually ph that are paying for the same on circuits

Well let's be charitable and assume that the absence of a full stop means that you didn't actually finish what you meant to say and that what you did say isn't really as confusing, contradictory and hypocritical as it looks :D

I meant exactly what I said and you really ought not to assume anything. Now should I put a smiley as a full stop like you have or should I just leave it like I do :?

I think Peterborough City council are more concerned about standards than making it "easy" to become a PH driver the majority of which go straight into the trade on arrival from Pakistan. There has been quite an effort to enforce standards lately with a major campaign against illegal plying for hire .

The problem is that there are a large number of New PH firms appeared in Peterborough over the last 5 years most are using cheap pricing as a way into the trade and consequently any means of cutting costs such as licensing in Huntingdonshire as well as quite a few of our Hackney plated vehicles doing a bit of work over there as well (including one of my drivers helping out his cousins business)

Peterborough is very cutthroat due to the excessive numbers of PH drivers and I think Peterborough city Council are well aware of this and desperate to do something to improve standards

Well I think a smiley works well enough as a full stop, because it adequately indicates where the sentence ends :D

Perhaps it doesn't work so well where you used one above, because you required a question mark rather than a full stop

Anyway, it's good to know that you don't complain about the amount of drivers but do worry that there isn't enough work for the drivers Image

So I'm not really sure how giving these new drivers "the support of the college to get help to pass" does anything to address the problems you outline, such as the "cutthroat" environment and "excessive numbers of PH drivers".

Thank you, Brummie cab for the suggestion earlier on the thread, I am sorry I don´t have the time right now to follow the forum regularly, I only found the thread ego-googling...
Yet I wish I could, I miss my time in Brighton like my mad and would have so much enjoyed being a cabby in England again and take part in this forum as an insider...
Anyway, thanks for letting me know, yet as soon as I found the time I will continue with my efforts to be a regular hack driver, PH is not my thing, especially not in Brighton, with those beautiful hack-colours...
