Taxi plate and cab and city position £30,000
£30,000 Trinity, Edinburgh

This comes with a warning to you, I have a very good friend in the council and have been informed that the current setup will be changing soon. Plates will be opened up again to license holders to apply for a set time period and this will start next year. I think this is only a limited time period but this wasn't known yet.

I am selling my plate and taking my retirement from the job that has changed too much since I started. Selling as the full package and would prefer someone who is driving with city currently to take the taxi.

2008 tx4 with 180,000 miles auto black.
Plate
City position

I guess your paying about 15 grand for the plate which is much lower than most are selling for.

Also when plates were free to all before there were still people renting so you can still get some income from a renter, maybe £150 a week to another full time guy which will cover your radio fees when things do change.

I'm glad someone else has put this up, because I was sworn to secrecy but didn't believe it anyway. Now I'm not so sure. It had to come.............................. =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> .....

You have to laugh. Given that we all now fully understand how the CGSA works, where does it say that the council can open the trade up for a period?

And what would be the benefit to them for this?

Once opened, and the genies is out of the bottle, how could it be closed again?

Be aware, they open the trade up, it stays opened up. End of.

And that's before my new case comes before them for the restriction practice which is derived from Section 10 (3) denies employment and consequently freedom of speech, in full breach of Human Rights.

=D> to Dewar and his ilk. they were wise enough to see it coming. Although we did tip them the wink so to speak

I was told about de-restriction as the council's weapon of choice nearly two months ago, but honestly didn't believe it. You could say, a quick plug pull acts like a panacea for all that ails the council concerning the taxi trade.

LMFCO,Image and they couldn't have picked a worse time. It is starting to look like Jim and I, were just a few years ahead of our time.

Your reap...                     Now who's laughing?Image

There's only one other thing I want to know when it happens. How does it feel to know your greed and stupidity brought down your own trade? You should have listened to the Skull and Taylor, when you had the chance.

It couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of Image

Don't see why it couldn't be opened for a limited period and then closed, in theory at least.

Quite a few English LAs have done it under a broadly similar legal test - indeed didn't Edinburgh do it previously and Aberdeen are doing it now? - so I can't see any obvious legal impediment.

Of course, normally it isn't a course of action that's planned in advance, but once the pressure to release plates has disappeared then it's easy to recap again, because all those who were previously on the outside are now on the inside, and the drawbridge can be pulled back up again, and no-one objects.

So a planned temporary derestriction would be almost unknown, but certainly plausible in theory.

However, if they're not planning a full and permanent derestriction then I suspect it's something short of a temporary full derestriction, thus perhaps a limited release of new plates, which again is quite feasible under the SUD test.

Indeed, the OP says that "plates will be opened up again to license holders to apply for a set time period".

Thus is there any significance in the use of the phrase 'licence holders'?

If there is then that might imply some kind of issue other than a full derestriction, but who knows.

For example, Dublin tried to stave off derestrction by offering a new plate only to existing plate holders, but it all collapsed in the face of court action.

But I'll believe it all when I see it.

Whichever way this falls matters not a jot, in our current financial situation. It's game over. All those little "businessmen" will be lost in the flood. It's almost biblical, and no less than they deserve, fu*king rats.

im afraid ill believe it when i see it to :doubt:

thing is they have no survey and cant get one in time.

if you ask me the originator of this thread is suspect, i mean wheres the phone number.

looks more to me like someone is worried and doesn't want anyone to apply before a full survey is in place.

anyway we will wait and see,ill put my money down now methinks.

When's it due?

Maybe they're trying to engineer a legal challenge, which in the political sense may be an easier way to open things up than the committee formally deciding on it.

keep asking them under F.O.I and they just keep saying that the final touches are being made before it goes to tender.
they have been saying that for several months now
they also denied applications in april,( http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/meetings/me ... -committee ) under sec 10.3 making reference to an assessment of demand, rather than a survey.
thing is the 3 years is now up they haven't even tendered it and it will take more than 6 months to get a legally robust survey done.

This only makes sense if they intend to pull the plug. Effectively, the C.E.C. is back in the same position as the 3maxblack case. If you apply now they have no up-to-date information to deny your plate, and no grounds to ask for an extension of time, in which to complete their survey. They may still deny the licence but on what grounds, without up-to-date demand figures it's another lost court case. Once again, it looks like the C.E.C. are depending on those applying for a plate not having the funds to appeal their decision.

Something tells me, a short period of de-restriction, and all their problems are solved. :-|

Dougie, no one is interested in your fear response or your little dream world. Oh and 30K, is more than a plate and position in City Cabs is worth. In fact, buying in at this moment in time leaves the question of your sanity. #-o
