The fees seem pretty reasonable to me. Cannock charge nearly £120 for a one-year badge but they do seem to have a tendency to take action on the basis of opportunity not necessity and that is bound to be costly.

Enforcement isn't took out of the licensing pot is it? Anyway ours don't do enforcement they haven't been out for months.

I'm not sure that the law allows that.

It is illegal to charge for enforcement in a driver's license.

100% illegal.

So who pays for it? Presumably the Council Tax payer.

Presently enforcement costs are being met by vehicle license fees, but I'm not convinced that avenue is now lawful.

Come the new act I think gov will set national fees, and any extra enforcement costs will be met via the council tax payer, as is the case (I repeat) in most other council licenses.

They still don't get it.

The costs of printing/processing a three year license is the same as a one year license, in fact it's the same as a million year license.

But maybe they do get it, but they hope we don't. [-X

I'm getting really dicked off with the clowns in Kirkby, they can't seem to grasp the idea that they are ripping us off. I think another letter to the Ombudsman will do the trick.

A typical civil servant reply, words telling you/us nothing we don't know and not addressing the legal aspect.

I would consider the District Auditor, cos those fees are exorbitant.
