There is a new law being introduced where PH vehicles are able to act and do the same job as HC in the next licencing reviews as some say whats the point in having two types of taxi when they do the same job?

I suspect a new law will come in during 2014, but it wont permit PH doing the same job as hackneys.

It might make it easier to become a hackney owner in some areas, but will also allow any old s*** to be licensed as PH.

I said 'Really?' to give you an opportunity for you to check your facts not for you to have yet another pop at the drivers, that coincidentally put the bread on your table. Running a private hire operation is a 2 way street. What you are referring to is the consultation that is underway with the Law Commission viewtopic.php?f=14&t=19229 which has been one of the topics on this site for quite some months now. Having said that I wonder how much control you would have over the drivers should they ever be allowed to act like HCs?

Roll on that day I say!!

155,000 drivers all having to convert to hackney?

Now that would be deregulatory.

But then who would enforce the army of unlicensed vehicles with unlicensed drivers that would mushroom shouting 'Taski, taski!'

Following on from the Captain's point above (well is was until the discount kid posted) do you not think that at least one of the 2600 members might have mentioned that in one of the near 250,000 posts since TDO started nearly 9 years ago?

Maybe, just maybe?

And by the way.....we we're taking the p*ss when we were on about not being aware of possible changes to the law....there's a section of the site dedicated to it ffs

viewforum.php?f=14

You should perhaps study page 66 of the document when your at work, because the LC appear to believe the pseudo employed status of your serfs is wrong
