I was also sexually and racially abused by a group of potential Customers.

I was picking up at the Marshalled Rank at Boswell Park in Ayr at around 3am.

5 Customers got in who wanted to go to a Village up-country. I told them that the Fare would be about £18, but could be more, and that I would need a deposit of £20 to cover the Fare, but that they would get any change should the Meter read less. After a certain amount of cursing and swearing, this could not be described as badinage as it was directed at my parentage and race, one of them offered me £10 up front.

We were still next to the Marshals.

As they were all shouting, I got out of the Car, opened their door, asked for quiet and explained to them that £10 was not acceptable and that I wouldn't move without a minimum of £20. Among other things, I was then describes as a "miserable English [edited by admin]" and a lot more, that is unprintable. So I told them to get out.

The Senior Marshal took my Number and said that he was putting the Incident in his report.

Where do you think I stand if I get summoned in-front of the LA?

On a technicality, it's only racist abuse if you are actually English. If you're not, it's just common or garden verbal abuse.
Sexual abuse? What was that about?

That aside, you are perfectly entitled to ask for MUF if they are going out of your licensed area. (You didn't say if their destination was in your LA or not)
You are also not required to take anyone out of area if you don't want to and you don't have to give a reason.

If the destination was within your LA, you need a reason to refuse.
Unfit through drink or drugs would do or not having enough money to pay the fare. Same goes for the abusive behaviour.
Check the conditions attached to your taxi driver licence.

Did this Marshall witness the abuse?

You have done nothing wrong, end off.

However I would make a complaint about the taxi marshal. He stood there and watched a bunch of scum abuse you and did nothing.

Of course we don't expect him to get physically involved, but he should be telling people that if the driver wants the money up front, then either give it to him or get into the next cab.

Eddie, am I missing something, you are the victim of this incident are you not? Why the fu*k are you the one, asking the questions, and find yourself worried about being reported?

You should be the one making the complaint. #-o

I hate to say it Eddie, you've got slave mentality written all over you. #-o

Let's be quite clear about this.

I don't like you, you don't ride in my taxi. End of.

That's all the reason I need.

Eddie, slave mentality works like this, firstly. You find yourself apologising for becoming a victim. You answer questions make excuses and give explanations on demand, while it's your conduct that's being judged, and not theirs. #-o

In short, you hand permission to your abusers to make you their victim.

To reverse this dynamic, you have to be the one making the complaint, forcing your accusers to answer your questions by speaking to your complaint of their conduct.

The thing is, the power they have over you is what they can take away, and what you are not prepared to lose or give up, at a moment's notice. #-o

So you see Eddie, you have a slave's mentality, and you don't just drive a taxi to earn a living, they own your ass. #-o

Skull: Thanks for those few short words of encouragement. Your advice is always useful, but in this case I think that I shall ignore it, as the Lady at the LA is unlikely to be impressed.

I am assuming that the Marshal's Report will go into the LA and was wondering what sort of response I should make should they decide to "Interview" me on the matter. When the Punters refused to get out, I was quite positive! But I don't think that I swore at them.

I would explain exactly what happened by making a counter allegation against the marshal, pointing out that having to tolerate personal abuse is not part of your job description. :-| Your problem is, the Lady at the LA along with the marshal probably think that's part and parcel of being a taxi driver. And generally speaking, they are correct. Once a slave...

They might as well be, if you give some inadequate brain dead, a uniform of sorts and tell him he's in command. It doesn't mean anything, unless he has someone to beat on, and in this case, Eddie. :-|

The marshals in Edinburgh are usually pretty good but one night at the omni they let 6 punters in and two of them had open bottles of beer. They didn't take it well when I told them I could only take 5 and when I eventually managed to get them out one of them emptied their beer in the back. Needless to say I was fairly frustrated and the marshal got the brunt of it. The sad thing was I bumped a potential fare to service the rank, now I'm more inclined to pick up off the street
