British pensioners in Teneriffe etc. may need the cold winter payments too....

Anyway, most of them have paid in all their lives, why should they be treated differently simply because when the law was made it wasn't, as usual, drafted properly.

How about those who live in Nursing Homes and those who live in Sheltered Housing where the heating is included in the price of their rents?? They all get the Winter Fuel Payment.

no they dont, or at least those in a council run (or fees paid by the state) dont, dads in one, he has had his state pension and company pension off him and gets £20 a week pocket money, nothing else.

They do, the missus grandma is in one and she gets her winter fuel payment.

During New Labours corrupt time in office 300 000 pensioners either starved or froze to death due to the woeful pensions and the RIP OFF power companies another of the thing Thatchers achievements  So the question how many will go the same way this coming winter 10,000 15.000 who knows ??? This at a time of Tax Cuts for the rich and bankers multi million ££££££££ bonus's dont you just love these Governments ??

So anyone got any ideas how to stop this bollocks ???????????

surely the point is all governments have betrayed the pensioners and allowed them to freeze or starve to DEATH the 300.000 figure is from official sources and not denied by any Govt, sure some payments for cold periods were introduced by Brown at the same time he gave a 10p a week increase in pensions!

Privatised power companies are a rip off thanks to Thatcher and of course Major Blair and Brown one of whom introduced the scheme and the rest who allowed them to carry on c===s the lot of em

Trotsy, how about HMG take the fuel payments off the ex-pats living in Tenerife/Florida/Aus.. who simply dont need it, and the fuel payments made to retirees who have millions in the bank (including cliff richard for instance, and des o'connor, and brucie) and of course royalty, and spread that money out to PROPER UK pensioners who LIVE here on a state pension?....

radical int it, looking after those who need it

but dont politicise it, neither Labour nor Tories have done it despite having plenty of chance to

Some of that makes sense particularly the Royal parasites, still whats a real solution already its getting COLD food prices are climbing and pensioners are worrying I find it disgusting do you ???????????????

I think fuel prices in general are disgusting, they rise when wholesale prices rise, but dont fall in line when wholesale prices fall, its taken me 3 months for British gas to relenquish thier grip on me as a customer to let me go with Scottish Power who are 30% cheaper (day rate) and 10% cheaper (night rate), 3 months delay means they keep you for a whole season, when they know damn well they cant stop you leaving

but how crazy i now have my electric charged by Scottish Power when im in the midlands and its obviously just a paper-transaction, for profit, once upon a time your nearest supplier (of anything), same as british GAS being involved selling ELECTRIC, every level of admin raises a cost, but we seem to enjoy complicating things

Indeed the Lady of the Night is a murderer aided and abetted by Major Blair and Brown and now of course Cameron and his gobshyte lickspittle Clegg

The thought of lonely uncared for pensioners freezing or starving in the coming months is the ONE issue that makes me think maybe its time for some violence ?

Do you think that by calling people that you don't agree with helps your argument? It just makes you look like a moron.
I assume that by violence you mean that you are happy to incite it but you would be hiding away like a coward if there is any.

So grandad your happy to sit on your arse whilst this going on are you, allowing people to starve and freeze is a premeditated act of violence to me, wha'ts your solution you've made not one comment of sympathy for these people who have lived and worked their entire lives here and of course fought in many wars and lost loved ones, presumably that is of no concern to you ????????? :?: :?: :?: :?:

The level of interest in our elderly citizen predicament is astounding likewise the quality of debate!

Who was it who said "the measure of any society is the way it treats its most vulnerable" or something similar?

And the measure of our society allowing starvation and hypothermia to reap the elderly amidst plenty is ????????????

Clearly members of this forum care very little, lets hope they do not find themselves in this situation soon, but having read the Casey column I believe many might well do =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

Lets quote grandad "I am happy"
